*Vic's P.O.V.*
(Continuation of previous flashback)
"Woah, Vic, shit. I never knew you got some last night." I woke up to bright light blinding my eyes as my brother ripped the curtain to the side. "Damn, you scored big time."
"Mike," I hissed through clenched teeth, "Get. The. FUCK. Out. Of. My. Room." He stood there grinning at me. "NOW!"
Mike threw his tattooed hands up in the air and laughed. "Ok, ok, I'm going, jeez."
I felt Riley stir as Mike slammed the door behind him. I hummed a soft tune and patted her back, trying to get her to continue sleeping, but it was no use as she yawned and rubbed sleep from her eyes.
"What was he talking about?" She said through yawns.
"Nothing, he's my idiot brother who jumps to conclusions. Go back to sleep."
I pressed her still naked body against mine and rubbed her back.
"I can't. Vic, my head HURTS," she groaned.
"I know baby, sh. I'll go get you some water and Advil, ok?" Hangovers always sucked. I was glad that I didn't have that much of a hangover since I wasn't too drunk, but I felt concerned for Riley. She was acting like she never had a hangover before.
"No, Vic, don't go. Stay with me. And hum that song you were humming earlier." She grabbed my waist and dug her head into my bare chest.
I smiled and began humming the little tune; it was a quiet lullaby my mother always used to hum to me when I was younger. When I finished, I thought she was sleeping, but instead she untangled her arms from around my waist and looked up at me.
"Vic...can I ask you something?" She asked me. "And please answer truthfully."
"Of course, baby doll. Ask me anything." I looked at her nervously. She seemed to be deep in thought as she bit her lip.
"Uh. Did we fuck?"
My body filled with disappointment as I realized she must have not remembered anything. "No," I answered quietly, "we didn't have sex."
She half-smiled a bit but I could tell that something else was bothering her. "Why am I naked?"
I felt awkward as I tried hard to think of what to say. "Well, we um. I'm not sure how to say this, but you see, we almost, kind of, fucked."
She closed her eyes and took a deep breath before rolling onto her back. An awkward tension filled the air before I decided to speak. "I'm sorry. I'm telling you the truth though, I didn't take advantage of you. Stuff just kind of happened, but I promise you that I stopped it before it got too far. I hope you're not mad at me."
She turned back to her side to face me. "I'm not mad at you. I can never be mad at you," She inched her body closer to mine, "I...like you."
My heart stopped beating for a second as my brain processed her words. She...likes ME?
I realized I must have hesitated a moment too long, for her face fell a bit, and she turned around and mumbled out an apology. I snaked my arm around her waist and pulled her hair back from her neck as I whispered into her ear, "I like you too." I felt her smile as I kissed her neck once, twice, and then three times before intertwining my fingers through hers.
Riley looked down at our hands and smiled. My body shook with excitement as I realized that she was happy. It made me feel even better to know that I was the one giving her this happiness.
I leaned my chin on her shoulder and hugged her closer to my body. "I can't help but think of how perfect my hand fits in yours right now," she whispered to me.
I stroked her hand with my thumb and murmured, "Yes, it's like we were made to be together. All these years, I've been missing my other half, and now? Now, I think I've found it. I went twenty-seven years without her, and now I don't think I can function a single day without talking to her."
She breathed in, "Who is she?"
I snuggled closer to her, "She's right here in my arms. The beautiful girl I met in a coffee shop, a few weeks ago."
I turned her around and looked deep into her eyes, "Riley, will you be my girlfriend?"
"Yes," She breathed, and I closed the distance between us.
