Soonyoung asks the reader to dance with him~
---
"No."
"Come on..."
"I said no."
"It'll be really easy, I promise!"

You lowered your magazine and shot him the most sincere 'are you kidding me?' face, "NOTHING about your choreography is easy, Soonyoung!"

"Well, okay, but can't you at least try?" he asked, sitting down on the bed and putting his hand on your leg. For a few weeks now, Soonyoung had been trying to get you to learn the choreography for Mansae. You'd gone to the practice room with him before to watch all of the members practice for music shows, but had refused to take part yourself at any point. You couldn't dance. There was no way you were going to waste your boyfriend's precious energy on teaching your uncoordinated ass how to dance like a god.

You closed your magazine and set it aside, then sat up to put your hand on his, "You KNOW I can't dance. Why not use your energy to help the others practice?"

"And YOU know that I have all the energy in the world. Besides, they already know how to do it. We've been promoting for over a month and practicing even longer than that," he replied, "and I want you to know how to do it so that we can do it together."

"Is that really the only reason...?"

"It sounded much more convincing in my head..."

There was no point in saying no anymore. You knew that if you said no this time, he would just ask you again tomorrow. It's not that he wasn't respecting you, he would never push you to do something you didn't want to do, it was more that he knew you tended to refuse doing things before even trying and didn't want you to miss out on something that you might find fun.

"You know what, fine. I'll do it. Just promise me that you won't make me learn the 'OMG' choreography." you said.

Soonyoung didn't say anything, but his face lit up at your words and he smiled so widely you thought his jaw would snap. He lunged forward and trapped you in the tightest, most heartfelt hug you had ever experienced. Like an excited toddler, he grabbed your hand and pulled you off of the bed to get ready to go to the practice room.

----

The two of you arrived at Seventeen's second home and set down your bags. You had changed into a plain white shirt and black shorts, something you hadn't worn since 7th grade gym class. It felt weird to be at the practice room and not be spectating, but seeing Soonyoung so happy was too heartwarming for you to back out.

After taking some time to stretch well and get ready, Soonyoung turned to you and smiled, "Okay, so you should probably get to know the chorus part first since it recurs like four times."

"Whatever works, Soonyoungie, you're the leader here" you said.

"Well, it starts with covering your mouth like you're really surprised and flapping your other hand quickly. With your legs, step really quickly in place while you do the hand things for about 2 or 3 seconds," he instructed, followed by an unwarranted, flawless demonstration, "and to make your expression matches the dance, pretend you're seeing something really flustering. I like to picture how I felt when I saw you when I picked you up for our first date."

How can he say things like that so shamelessly?

You just couldn't help but laugh, a wave of happiness washing over you as you remembered that night. You felt the exact same way then, and you could easily feel the shivers and jitters returning with the powerful memory.

"Well, try it!" he encouraged.

Reassuring yourself of your balance, you released those feelings into the dance Soonyoung had just demonstrated. You felt foolish in a way since you weren't used to doing things like this, but at the same time you felt very good.

"Uh...so, like that?" you smiled awkwardly.

"Yes, yes, just like that!" he chimed, "that was perfect!"

"It was just a little spaz dance, but thank you for being proud of me anyways."

"I'm just so happy we're actually dancing together," he smiled again and giggled from pure joy at the whole situation, "so, are you okay? Do you want to keep going?"

"Yeah, sure!"

With your approval, Soonyoung wasted no time continuing your dance lesson. It was amazing that, even with your initial lack of skill, he was able to teach you so well and so patiently. He focused on every little detail of the dance, from the basic steps down to the slightest movement of your fingers, and after a few hours, you were able to dance to the entire chorus without falling or messing up. Needless to say, Soonyoung was incredibly proud of you, and he wasn't shy of letting you know.

"Wahh, you're so amazing!" he said, taking both of your hands and swinging them around playfully, "why have you always said you can't dance?"

You swung your hands along with his, "Because I never really tried... and honestly I didn't want you to have to take your little time and energy to teach me. But now that you've gotten me into it, I think I'll have to more often!"

"Well, don't you worry about my time and energy, okay? Being around you energizes me like crazy, and you're worth all the time in the world," he laughed as you slapped his arm for being so cheesy, "and please, if you ever wanna dance, just come over to the practice room!"

----

The rest of the afternoon was spent learning other dances, endless patience and support blooming from him. By the time evening rolled in, you were completely worn out. You collapsed against the wall and sighed contentedly, and Soonyoung slid down next to you, giving you an extremely bright smile of admiration.

"Thank you for dancing with me today," he said breathlessly, "I had so much fun!"
"Well I didn't really have much of a choice, but I'm glad I did," you grinned back.
"I am too..." he started before landing a little peck on your lips, "...my dancing queen~"
