"Finally," I sigh,"an empty compartment." Well, almost empty. There was a man asleep in the corner. He looked pale and exhausted. I lifted up my trunk and set it on the shelves above me. I kept my brown owl Pine on the empty seat to my right. I sat near the window. We wouldn't be at Hogwarts for another couple of hours, so I decided to just think.

The compartment door slid open. Harry, Ron, and Hermione were behind it.

"Can we sit here?" asked Harry.

"Of course," I said, motioning to the empty seats near me.

They sat on the other side of the compartment. Harry on my row and Ron and Hermione on the other. Hermione muttered a spell on the door and they began talking in hushed whispers. I think Hermione muffled the sound on the other side of the door. I pull out a book from my backpack and began to listen in.

"So Sirius Black escaped Azkaban and is after you?" asked Ron.

I think Harry nodded. I glance over at them and they had worried looks on their faces.

"Well, they'll catch him, wont they?" asked Hermione," they have everyone looking for him, even Muggles."

"So..." Ron asked, trying to change the subject,"Are you guys excited for Hogsmeade?"

"Yes!" said Hermione," I here it's the only Wizarding town."

"I can't wait to go to Honeydukes," said Ron,"I can already taste the chocolate frogs and the Every Flavor beans."

"Yeah," said Harry gloomily," You'll have to bring me back some."

"What do you mean?" asked Hermione,"Didn't you get your permission slip signed?"

"I was going to," Harry explained quickly,"but then I blew up my Aunt and left."

I smile, thinking of a lady blown up like a balloon. My smile faded when I remembered I hadn't got my slip signed either. Harry and I would be the only third years not going to Hogsmeade. I close my book in frustration. Louder than I had intended to. Harry, Ron and Hermione looked over at me and remembered that I was also in the compartment.

"Hello," said Harry.

"Hi," I answer.

"What's your name?" he asked.

"Jane Webster," I say.

"Are you new here?" asked Harry.

Of course he didn't know I went here. Not many people do. I didn't let it bother me though.

"No," I said with a smile, "This is my third year at Hogwarts."

"Oh," said Harry,"What house are you in?"

"Gryffindor," I reply cheerily.

Harry and Ron both had suprised and embarrassed looks on their faces.

Hermione didn't, since I was in her dorm.

"How was your summer?" asked Hermione.

"Boring actually," I replied ," I spent most of my summer in my room reading and going through this year's course books. How was yours?"

"Great," she replied. "I spent the last three days at The Leaky Cauldron with Harry, Ron and the rest of the Wea-".

Hermione stopped talking when the train suddenly stopped.
