The Ladders Empire begins on November 29, 2015 on a faithful video on the Youtube channel, AmazingPhil. The video is titled Phil Is Not On Fire 7, or also known as PINOF7. Phil Is Not On Fire videos, or PINOF for short, are videos produced by Dan Howell (Danisnotonfire) and Phil Lester (AmazingPhil) every year since October 25, 2009. The video made in 2009 is the first public video on Phil Lesters channel to feature Dan Howell (Danisnotonfire) and it shows Dan and Phil doing a Q&A in Phil's room. Every one of these annual videos contains cat whiskers that they draw on each others faces with Sharpie markers. These cat whiskers have become the symbol of the phandom. In the most recent PINOF video from 2015, one question in the Q&A, was to makeup a song about ladders. Phil sung the alto part of continuosly singing the word "ladders", and Dan sung the lyrical Soprano part of "The wood. You step on them and they climb. They're made of metal. They go up. If you're a fireman, they're really high. Ladders."
