Chapter 1

I found myself looking at you. Your eyes gleamed with such brightness, that the sun was put to shame. Your hair fell down perfectly, as the wind tries so hard to keep it out of place but fails drastically in doing so. Your voice was something I'd never get tired of listening to, it makes me forget the melodious chirps of the birds and the soothing sound of the waves as it brushes past the shore. You were a sight to be looked upon on. A sight to hold dear. Someone as precious as you does not deserve to be here, don't you agree? I found myself staring at you. Your never-ending enthusiasm that everyone holds on to, gets me every time. Your smile that everyone loves so much is something I couldn't help myself resist. But I knew I had to wait. I had to wait for the right time, and I knew it was drawing near. Someone as lovely as you does not deserve to live in such a chaotic world, don't you agree? Just you wait, I'll finally put you out of your misery.

"Hey, are you even listening?" Natalie raised her voice as she waves her hand in front of my face. My gaze was now transferred to the papers she had just placed on my desk when I was dozing off a while ago. "You know my life would be easier if you actually listened to me when I'm talking." she sighed as she prepares to leave the room. "Tomorrow would be the submission of the research papers and the students who took the survey had mostly answered 'no' in all the questions. Oh and one more thing, the summary has not yet been approved by the teacher-in-charge. Would you like to be the one to make the revision?" I repeated everything Natalie had just said and added, "That's all that you have said, and yes I definitely want to be the one to revise the whole thing." I smiled back at her and she hid her face in shame and just gave me a thumbs up in reply, then left the room.

In my years as a student of course I had already acquired the skill of listening to others while doing other things at the same time. I mean, haven't all students have? I stood up and gathered all of my things including the papers on my table. And as I was walking towards the door, someone called my attention. "Y-you left your notebook on the floor." Oh fudge my notebook. "Oh, thanks a-" as I bet down to pick it up I suddenly recognized the voice. I stood there frozen and unable to move or even to breathe. You were talking to me. I couldn't help myself, I wanted to glance at you. But I shouldn't. At least not now. I closed my fists, bit my lip, and gathered my strength to stand and leave. I kept my back facing you, so you wouldn't see me trying hard not to grin. "Thanks a lot." I continued, then I left. Leaving the door open.

I found myself breathing heavily as I departed from the room. This instant I couldn't help but feel my knees shaking, but I knew that after a couple minutes I'd be back to my normal self. I have finally arrived to my destination. Letting out a sigh of relief, I prepared to knock. Before I could, the door swung open and brought to my knees. "Oh my God, I'm so sorry." A woman at her early 30's greeted me with such concern present in her tone. She was clearly having a panic attack. "It's okay." I replied not noticing the blood gushing out of my nose. "Oh my God, you are literally bleeding! You are obviously not okay. Oh my God, what have I done? What should I do?!" Yes, she definitely is overreacting. "Ms. Seriously, I'm okay. Just a little bleeding, it'll be over soon." As I tried to stand, my legs wobbled a bit but I successfully got up from sitting on the floor. "I'm just looking for, Mrs. Fields? I have a question about the survey thingy." Oh how weird the world works. But at least it works for me most of the time.

"That's me." She scratched the back of her head and laughed a little. "Oh? Well, this is quite the scene." I laughed and smiled a bit. She looked at me and smiled back, I hated her the first time I saw her. I hated everything about her. "So what were you going to ask?" her smile was still there, it was annoying. I took the papers out of my backpack, and handed it to her. Our hands touched, and I hated how soft her hand felt as it brushed against mine. "So first of all, what's your topic all about?" she asked as the wind blew over her hair in a gentle breeze. Her hair would look great underwater. "It's a research on the bodies of water where students prefer to swim more often. Specifically, lakes or pools." I replied as I pointed the research title on the paper she was holding. "Oh I see. That is a bit tricky because not all students actually like to swim. But I'll do anything I can to help. So what's the dilemma?" she asked.

"I agree. Plus the fact that there aren't any lakes near the vicinity it'd be hard for me and my group mates."

          "Actually, there is."

"There is? How come I never heard of it?"

"Well" she paused for a while.

          "Well?"

"Maybe you just aren't aware of it, well it is kind of hidden. But I can take you and your group mates there if you want. Do you?" she was waiting for an answer. "I think I'd go ask them first. Wouldn't want to get scolded by Natalie again." As I said this, she raised her eyebrows in confusion. "Oh, Natalie's our leader." I made invisible apostrophes in the air as I said the last word. She giggled and looked at the watch on her wrist. "I'm sorry for taking a lot of your time, Mrs. Fields. I should be going too, I should still make some revisions of-" I pointed at the papers she was holding. "That." "Oh, right. Bye then. Just tell me in advance when I can accompany you to the lake, okay?" she handed me the papers back and I put it inside my bag. And waved goodbye.

Your hair would look great underwater, don't you agree?
