Sprinting

When you think of awkward silences, you probably don't think of what I was thinking. You probably think "When I fart" or "When I crack a terrible pun" but this was about ten times worse. The only sound was the soft rumble of this..surface. It was so tense and uncomfortable, it made me cringe in embarrassment. Slow clap for me.

I feel my cheeks heating up with embarrassment for being so curious. Whitney lets out a funny sounding cough as Tabitha glanced at Jack, and they talk through their eyes. Sibling telepathy, if you must. I look at Damien, who is looking at the ground, avoiding eye contact.

"Moving swiftly on..." I blurt, as I cover my mouth. Way to make a situation more awkward, Azure.

They all look at me, blankly before Damien chuckles and gets up and runs to me and slaps my back (that's finally moved away from the metal wall).

"Jeez sis! At least your the same!" he laughs, and I blush in embarrassment as Whitney grins. Tabitha looks far from amused. Well, at least Jack doesn't look annoyed anymore. His face loosens up slightly, but there still is tension in the air.

"So...w-where are we?" I ask, while I stare at the 'surface'. Rough, metal walls surround the us, the only light from crack in the metal. It's plaid and boring, but at least I'm not entrapped in cuffs here.

"Hiding den." Tabitha bluntly says before walking towards a box. I perk up as she tosses something towards my direction, which almost slip from my fingertips, but I quickly wrap my fingers around it. It's a bottle of water...actually no, it's not water. It's something else. It's a little more...lemonade-y looking.

"Drink it, it'll help you recover quicker." Tabitha says, as I take a big swig of it. It's refreshing and fresh, and tasted quite a lot like lemonade.

"Mmm..thanks Tabs." the name naturally flows out of my lips, without me putting a thought in it. I quickly shift my stare at her, waiting for a reaction, and I successfully get a small smile. Mission get Tabitha -I mean Tabs- to loosen up: Accomplished!
"We have to get moving soon." she hurriedly said, and I look around, confused.

"But we just-"

"I would love to explain, but nows not really the time." there's a hint of sarcasm in Damien's voice. I roll my eyes, but I stand up.

Damien stands still awkwardly for a minute, deep in thought. Suddenly, he speeds towards me with inhuman speed, his hand balled into a fist behind his head and...

I'm not sure what happened next. Next thing I know, I've got him pinned to the ground by the throat. He wheezes for air and I push further. Adrenaline pulses through my veins and bloodstream.

I feel alive.

My cells are buzzing and my heart is cheering on for me.

"Dami!" I immediately recognise the voice as Houston's: panicked, nervous, scared.

My brain quickly registers what I'm doing to my brother and I quickly bounce off with reflex, gasping at my own violent act.

"Oh my god, I'm so sorry! I-" I stammer an apology when I notice Damien is full out grinning. His dimples are more visible now, they almost make his face 'pop' more.

"Thank god you haven't lost your boxing charm." he laughs, as I look at him bemused.

"Oh, right." He stops laughing, blinking once before continuing, "You won't remember. Anyways, you were a pretty damn good boxer." he grins again, as I give him an amused smile.
