The Girl Who Met Ashley
Prologue
The girl coughed and stared down at her letter to Ashley Purdy from the Black Veil Brides. Excited that she had finally finished it, she read it once more.
“Dear Ashley Purdy,
“You have influenced my life so much, so I wish I could meet you, even if it’s only for a few minutes. I’m almost twenty-one, which is when I’m going to start looking for members for a band. It’s been my dream to be in a band since I was fourteen, when I first heard of you guys. I want to be a lead singer in a band called… oh! I don’t care what it’s called as long as I’m in a band! I want to sing rock music like you guys, and more than anything I want to meet the people I’ve looked up to for so long. Does this seem childish to you?
With love,
-Icey Alice Sullivan”
Icey smiled as she folded it up and put it in the envelope, licking the flap and sliding the letter shut. Icey hurried downstairs, singing Black Veil Brides songs as she skipped down and waved hello to her parents, “Good morning, mother, papa!” She smiled as she sat down for breakfast.
This morning, her mother had cooked home-made, oatmeal waffles with raspberry syrup. Icey’s brother, Shawn, came in from the living room, which was where he had been watching television, “Good morning, sister, tomorrow’s the big day when you head off for California!” He smiled a bright, gleaming smile.
“And when you head off for college in Cali,” Icey reminded him.
“Don’t remind me,” Shawn muttered.
Icey sang three notes in a mocking tone and stood up from her chair, twirled, and replied, “OH! I’M SO EXCITED!”
“Yes, and you should really start driving there today!” Mother warned, “Otherwise you won’t arrive until the evening tomorrow!”
“Right, I should, shouldn’t I?” Icey pointed out, “Alright! I’m going to leave in fifteen minutes, Shawn, if you’re not ready by then you have to drive yourself!”
“But I don’t have a car!” Shawn protested.
“Not my problem!” Icey grinned as she quickly ate her waffles and pulled on a sweater. It was December 30th, Shawn and she were turning 21-years-old today and she was really excited to go to California and start her band. Shawn was planning to go into dental school and become a pediatric dentist or whatever he called it.
Fifteen minutes later, Shawn and Icey were in Icey’s bright blue and black Mustang convertible, she plugged her iPod into the car and played Black Veil Brides songs on repeat. The drive may have been long, but finally Icey and Shawn arrived. Icey dropped Shawn off at his college and went off to the apartment she had rented after stopping at the post office and dropping off her letter.
Her apartment was huge! She loved the open space as she drove into the garage parking area and left her vehicle, closing the garage and walking into the building, “Wow!” She whispered out loud.
The apartment had a couch, two bedrooms, a bathroom, and a kitchen with bright red tiles on the floor. The rest of the building was carpeted with blue carpet, which kind of clashed with the red, but that was alright with Icey.
She noticed the sun setting and sighed, “Time for bed,” She went to her large bedroom and twirled as she jumped onto the water bed, which was hidden by a blue blanket.
She slept, dreaming of happy endings and finding a band.
