The Photographer & the Swimmer

The only perk of my step-mother forcing me to join a club is that I can, at least, stare at Percy Jackson at his swim practices and pretend that it's purely professional. I can say I'm just there to take pictures for the yearbook, I could even show him my Yearbook Staff school pass.

But, by now, I've taken enough swim pictures to last 10 school years. The only reason I keep coming back is for Percy.

Honestly, before Percy, I had no idea I felt this way about boys. I'd never had a crush before I was sent to take pictures of the first swim meet and I'd laid eyes on Percy for the first time ever. And, yeah, maybe I kept a few of the better pictures for myself.

Unfortunately for myself, there's no way the star athlete of Olympus High is gay. Especially not gay for Nico di Angelo, an absolute nobody.

Even if I can't have Percy for myself, there's no harm in sitting in the darkest corner of the stands and watching him swim like a fish.

I point my camera to the water where Percy should be, so I can use the zoom to get the best possible view of his back muscles. Only... he isn't there.

I tilt my head and move the camera down from my face when a voice startles me. "I've seen you here almost every Saturday of the season, yet I don't even know your name." I whip to my left and see Percy. He's wearing cargo shorts and a blue V-neck that shows off his collarbones and he must have skipped the drying off part because he's still dripping. And Smirking. Smirking at me, actually.

I look at him with wide eyes. I never expected that he would notice my appearances at his swim meats, but apparently he has. I have no way to explain myself so I say nothing and look at my camera.

"So, yeah, I was kinda hoping to put a name to your face. it's why I came over here, actually. I can't ask you out if I don't know your name. It'd be strange... even for me," he rambled, with a goofy smile directed at Nico.

"W-what?" Nico stammered, truly lost at what was going on.

"What's your name? Age...?"

"...Nico. Nico di Angelo. I- uh... I'm 15." he barely managed to get out in raspy breaths, his cheeks flaming. "Well, Nico di Angelo, I'm Percy Jackson. I'll be 18 in August and I'd really like it if you'd go to a movie with me?" he sounded much more confident in his introduction than Nico did.

"Me? Seriously? Why...?" Percy only smiled even brighter. "Maybe it's wrong to just go on looks, kid, but I must say... you've caught my attention."

That was the moment when his coach blew the whistle and he held up a finger before he left, meaning he'd be back. He'd come back for Nico's answer.

By the time the winning team was announced (Olympus High Dolphins. Go Team.) and the MVP had his big moment (Percy humbly accepted his congratulations), the whole team was heading for the bus, all in their windbreakers.

Nico couldn't spot Percy, but right when her was gonna assume that the boy had rethought, changed his mind about the date, he startled at a voice behind him. "Didn't think I'd forget about you, did you di Angelo?"

Nico turned to see him leaning against the stands. He was wearing a windbreaker just like all of his teammates, and it was unzipped quite a lot. Nico blushed at the enticing sight of his collarbones and upper abdominal muscles, glistening with water still.

In his hand he was holding a blue Sharpie and he was biting his lip bashfully as he held it out to Nico. Nico looked at the marker in his hand quizzically until Percy rolled up his sleeve and presented his dry forearm to Nico. "So, could I get your number or was that a no...?", finally the swimmer seemed to be on level grounds with Nico, based on the redness of his cheeks.

Shaking his head to clear his thoughts, Nico looked at Percy with his wide brown eyes and began to smile. "Fine. We can go see a movie. But for the record, I only like Fantasy, Adventure, and Science Fiction," he told the green-eyed swimmer with a bashful smile.

Percy looked 10 times as happy as when he won his MVP spot, not 20 minutes previous. "Great!", was his reply before he swooped down and left a kiss on Nico's cheekbone. Before Nico could force a response out of his mouth, Percy was already jogging to his bus with the rest of his team.

(A/N): Oops. Been a while, hasn't it? I've had a rough couple months, but I'm gonna try to distract myself with writing and Glee/Gossip girl marathons. Don't judge. I swear, I won't update until someone gives me a prompt. Idk if I'll use the prompt but I like making sure everyone is interested, and I swear I won't judge your prompts, so gimme. TTFN!
