Chapter 2: This Can't Happen

Minutes after Selena realizes that Justin has his eyes for her, Justin returns to his seat and smiles at Selena. She looks up at him and wonders if she should bring it up and she does. "Justin?"

"Yeah Sel? Is everything all right?"

Selena's having a bit of trouble as to how she's going to bring this up without it being so damn awkward. She pauses for a second or two and speaks. "Um, when you were gone... I was um.."

Justin notices the hesitation and has such a worried look on his face, asking Selena if everything is okay. He's feeling genuinely concerned about Selena right now and why she's acting this way all of a sudden - especially since they were having such an amazing time together. "Come on, you can tell me anything." 

Selena smiles a little, facing the ground; but then she looks up at Justin and realizes that this isn't like any regular situation you happen to come across as siblings, or step-siblings. "Well you see, when you were gone, I kind of got to thinking..."

"Go on..."

"Justin, I'm going to ask you a question and you have to be a hundred percent honest with me otherwise it's pointless in me asking."

He stares into his stepsister’s eyes with a troubled look. He wants to say 'of course!' but something is telling him that he might regret doing so. He looks around, trying to think of a smart answer but then it just slips out, "Of course, I wouldn't lie to you." He smiles gently but with a hint of concern towards Selena, thinking, 'Oh God, what have I gotten myself into?'.

"Okay..." Selena has such trouble with this. She wants to push it away but she has to know or she'll start beating herself up for not asking for the truth. "Do you have feelings for me, Justin?" 

Justin stares blankly at Selena; clearly startled that she had even asked him such a question. "W-Where did you get that idea from?" He starts to panic; he knows that loving his stepsister in a lover type of way is wrong. What is she going to think? This is going to change the bond they have so much and impact almost everything that goes on between them. Justin is thinking so hard that a little bead of sweat is starting to form on his forehead. He's turning red and his mouth is getting dry. He gave her his word and he has to be honest since he's never lied to her before in a way that would hurt her or give her any wrong impressions and he doesn't plan on starting now. 

"Justin, please? I didn't want to ask such a thing but I -" she got interrupted by none other than Justin; she was surprised with a hard and longing kiss. Selena surprised them both and began to kiss back, but not for a little while into the kiss. It was all such perfect timing; their first kiss is celebrated with fireworks lighting up the sky, much like the fireworks going off in the pit of their stomachs. But she realized what was happening and hesitantly pulled away in a rush. "Oh my God. What... What did we just do?" Selena gently glazed her middle and index fingers over her lips while Justin froze as a reaction to what occurred not too long ago. It was mesmerizing, for the both of them. 

"Uh, we should probably go home now." Justin sits up awkwardly and starts walking straight for the car. He finally got the feel of the full and luscious lips he has always wanted to lay his own on; it was even better with her returning the favour. Selena races toward Justin in an attempt to catch up to his fast paced walk. The drive home was quiet; a little too quiet. Oddly enough, Justin was the one that broke the silence and awkward tension between them. "I uh, I'm sorry." There was no reply from Selena whatsoever. He kept driving and they reached the mansion just before midnight. Selena got out of the car quickly and headed straight for her room leaving Justin to go after her; all he can think about now is how disgusting and immature she must think he is, it broke his heart. 'What if she hates me now? What have I done?' he thinks to himself.
