The Story Of Us

He entered the ice rink, the sudden cold hitting Julian's pale skin like a brick, though he didn't let it show. There weren't many people around skating, which was peculiar, but he thought nothing of it, dropping the subject. His crystal blue eyes searched for the familiar faces of his friends. Not many could make it to the meet up except for Joseph. At least that was what had been planned.

Annoyed suddenly at having to stand awkwardly on the edge of the rink, just in front of the ice, he texted the group chat:

You: Where the hell are you guys?!

Joseph: I think I might be late, sorry

Manuel: I'm right here you idiot, in front of you

Julian looked up suddenly and was blinded by the embodiment of sunshine standing in front of him.

"Manuel?" He asked, incredulous.

"Yep, that's me," Manuel smiled. Julian noticed for the first time how 'cute' the boy really looked, wearing a panda beanie with little black fur balls dangling off of strings on each side, the black ears sticking up. His hair was messy and stuck out of the front of the beanie, a light shade of brown, his eyes honey and mesmerizing. He had the brightest smile that seemed to genuine and soft, his lips pink and full of life... Julian licked his lips, feeling ridiculous for thinking such thoughts and forced himself to think of something else that wasn't the cutie standing right in front of him.

"C'mon Jules, let's go skating!" Julian almost bursts out laughing from the ridiculous giddiness of this man child and the nickname he gave suddenly gave you as Manuel grabs his hand roughly and pulls him into the rink, almost making him trip and fall, but in one quick swoop, Manuel's hands grab Julian's waist, steadying him and saving him from the fall. Julian quickly balances back on the ice and pushes his raven black hair back, revealing his awkward smile to Manuel. 

Manuel smiled back and Julian's heart fluttered involuntarily. This is weird, he thought, I've never felt this way before.
