Okay, so this is my second multi-chapter story. I appreciate any creative input, suggestions and POSITIVE criticisms I can get. I'm not sure where this story will go or how things will turn out but , we can figure it out together. Please let me know what you think...
The picture is the outfit he wears in the interview with Charlie...Just thought I'd give you guys a visual...I mean he's just soo pretty...
My name is Charlotte 'CHARLIE' Anderson. When you look at me, you see nothing special. I'm just your average girl next door. After I graduated college with a degree in literature I moved to L.A. to pursue a career as a writer. By day, I am an assistant to my best friend Dahlia 'Little Flower' Jacobs. She works for a local TV station as a celebrity interviewer, by night, I am a frustrated author trying to cure my never-ending writer's block. I often fall asleep in my computer chair after hours of wracking my brain for inspiration that never seems to come.
after a night of scouring the Internet for information on our next interview, I felt my eyes beginning to burn from staring at the screen. I leaned back in my chair and close my eyes pinching my nose to prevent a headache from coming. Took a deep breath and continued on.
This guy sure had a lot of fans. His name was Jai Courtney, from the pictures I saw I wondered if he even owned a shirt. His body is something to be admired, the lines of muscle that define his abdomen, the playful smirk that graces his face, his left eyebrow quirked up in an unanswered question. I flip through more pictures and stop at one that made me stomach flip. He was wearing a white t-shirt with a grayish blue cardigan over it, dark wash jeans with rips at the knees, the hem of the jeans rolled up and his feet without shoes. He was propped up on his shoulder against the fridge with a mug in one hand, that playful smile gracing his features. 'The man certainly knows how to take a picture' I thought to myself.
I was brought out of my thoughts with a jolt when Rob my best friend and best girlfriend Dahlias boyfriend slammed the front door. I jumped so hair I fell over in my chair.
"BREAKFAST" he called out in his Irish-accented voice
I groaned from my position on the floor
"Charlie what are you doing on the floor?" He asked amusement evidently in his voice
"Oh, you know..just trying to figure out the meaning of life" I snapped as I outstretched my hand for him to help me up.
"I hear alcohol helps" he teased with a grin on his face
"You two are at it already?? It's 5 a.m...I haven't had my coffee yet" Dahlia whines as she walk as towards Rob, she was wearing one of his concert t-shirts and nothing else. Rob reached her a paper cup of coffee from her favorite place, a goofy smile on his face. She smiled and kissed him on the cheek before taking the cup from his hands.
"Nothing for me?? I've only been up since 2 am trying to get information on our guy, coming up with original interview questions, and falling on my butt" I grumbled crossing my arms in front of me.
"I brought you something too, your favorite breakfast sandwich, and an herbal tea," he said handing me a bag and cup.
"Awww thanks, Rob" I pinch one of his cheeks before walking to the bar to sit.
"Em...Charlie, I have something to tell you" Dahlia stated as she bit her thumbnail anxiously
"What is it?" I mumbled around a bite of food
"There's a reason you were told to look that stuff up," she said holding back a grin
I slowly turned my head in her direction and swallowed heavily fearing the next words to come from her mouth.
"Why?" I whispered dread feeling me
"Because I've decided that you are going to interview him" she grinned evilly
I violently shook my head side to side. Her response was to nod her head rapidly.
"Why me?" I asked feeling my appetite dwindle
I opened my closet and searched for the dress I had bought on a whim, it was cream colored and was a loose flowing material. The hem came to my feet, the necklace scooped across my chest held me a thin strap. From the front, the dress looked modest, but when I turned the back rested just above my lower back. The sides of the dress left a little cleavage peeking out. I paired it with a denim button up with rolled up sleeves, I left the top unbuttoned. I slipped some brown sandals. Put a turquoise ring on and ran my fingers through my long curly hair. My hair reached near my abdomen, I curled my hair and made the curls smoother. Patted a little makeup on and gave myself the once over.
My body wasn't thin but wasn't big either. My hourglass figure stood out in whatever I wore, but I never had one complaint. I was self-conscious at times because California seemed to be the land of tall, thin and gorgeous models. I was 5'2, I had bright green eyes, my plump eyes glistened with the newly applied gloss. I shrugged at myself. This was the best I could do.
"You look gorgeous," Dahlia said as I made me the way to the living room.
"Yeah you do...why didn't you dress like that when I dated you" Rob snickered as I slapped his shoulder playfully
"It was two dates" I reminded him
"Yeah but we would never have worked out....I'm just too handsome" he pouted
I snickered at him and pinched his cheek
"You guys ready to get this show on the road" Dahlia clapped her hands. She had changed into a pair of dark skinny jeans, a white neck shirt and pair of brown riding boots, her short brown hair straightened.
"See you got a hottie right here" I teased him linking my arm with her.
"True have you not seen my body in these jeans," she said posing with her hip stuck out
"Oh trust me...." He said as he slowly stood up letting his eyes sweep up and down her body slowly.
"I have memorized every line and curve of those jeans" he growled playfully before hauling her against him.
I felt a familiar ache in my heart. I wasn't jealous I was happy for him and her both, I was envious I wanted that in my life. The love and passion. When Rob and briefly dated the romantic chemistry wasn't there, he felt more like a best friend than boyfriend material. But when he met Dahlia he lit up and so did she, they were perfect for each other. The ache grows and I have to clear the lump from my throat.
I loudly clear my throat "Guys stop with the mushy stuff, we've got work to do" I said before grabbing my hidden pack of cigarettes from the cookie jar.
"And just what are you doing??" Dahlias voice adopting a motherly tone
"I'm smoking...if you want me to do this interview....your gonna have to accept it," I said before tucking them into my small cross body bag along with keys and cell phone with earbuds attached. If I was gonna do this I need music and cigarettes.
"Alright...lets do this thing," I said putting my ear buds and pressing play.
