Lights were surrounding a bright white room with beeping sounds that would burst into my mothers ears. As my dad and I sat in the waiting room with total frustration because the result of the doctor saying "she might not make it". I borrowed a green George Washington from my dad to buy a can of soda from the vending machine, instead I was walking towards the room where my mom was held. Walking through the white tiles of the hospital hallway I heard yelps loud enough you could hear it from a mile away. It was child like and screechy, I walked towards the sound and through the window of one of the hospital rooms laid a woman who just gave birth to a beautiful baby boy. The women in a light green gown was holding her baby in her arms oh so tightly and sung a lullaby as sweet as lily flowers growing in a Nebraska grass field. In the next room of N24 was where my mother was held, as I peeked through the glass window I saw dark red blood surrounding the floors and the hands of many nurses. I could hear my heart pounding from my chest as if it could fall out any second, my mothers heart was raising by the second. The heart beeper was beeping really fast and a few minutes later the beeping stopped and a long beep was held.
Total silence fell upon the room, but in a few seconds a loud childlike screech was given out as I looked upon my dead mother. The doctor picked up the baby, "it's a girl"!. I rushed towards my dad waiting in the waiting chairs, I walked up to him and laid my hand on his shoulders. He looked up with a confused look as if I was crying. A tear dropped from my eyes and onto the palms of my hands. "Is she gone?", my dad asked with a surprised worried look. I slowly nodded and jumped into his arms and bawled. My dad was still as a statue, he didn't move and he didn't speak. "I have a new sister", I replied as I tried to give a smile as of hope of new happiness. He looked up and said, "we shall call her Alexandra like her mother".
The doctor walked towards the waiting room to give news we already knew of. "I'm sorry for your loss, but also you have a beautiful baby girl". It was a tragedy my mother couldn't join the happiness with us but we understood that she must leave to a better place with no pain and agony. One morning I awoke of the sound of a familiar voice, it was my mother in my old wooden rocking chair. She came close and said to me, "take care of your sister for me", with a great smile. I nodded in agreement and slowly she faded away....
