Survival Of the Fittest

The Beginning

Jackson was a young man. He recruited in the United States Army hoping to protect is country from the new threat. In the few recent years, NASA had discovered extra-terrestrial life and they were hostile. It is now new years eve and Jackson was with a group of friends, the final few seconds remaining. 10..9..8..7..6..5..4..3..2...the power shut down. Still the whole city yelled happy new year, and for the next few minutes, there were shouts of people questioning the power. Maria, Jackson's friend checked her phone to see the time only to realize her phone wasn't working.

"why isn't my phone working? it had 96% charge when i left home." Maria said in a quick breath before shivering.

It suddenly became cold, as if all of the heating had been shut off in the whole city. There was a bright flash. Jackson was the first to notice it and grabbed maria by the arms and ran down the stairs to the garage where he stored his bicycle. He rode all the way to the paddocks on the outskirts of the city just a few miles west of his apartment complex. He never bothered to make sure Maria was okay, because as soon as Jackson got to the paddock he jumped off the bike and ran another half a mile jumping over fences and spooking cows.

Because Jackson has military training he had the ability to see in the dark better than others could. He heard a loud crash then a bright flash of light shone in his eyes. He fell to the ground, blinded for a few seconds, hoping to regain some sight while he got up, he ran towards the crash site. He started running back after seeing what he saw, grabbed Maria and rode back to his apartment.

Jackson soon realized that it was happening. He waited until morning and then headed off to the military base to prepare for the soon to come battle. by the time he arrived at the army base the power was back on and the army had sent all they needed to out of the planet and towards the enemies.

Jackson was sent home, so he stayed at his house waiting for some big bad thing to happen, so he could do what he trained to do...Defend his planet. almost as soon as he thought about it, an earthquake struck his apartment. Something fell and knocked Jackson out. when he awoke he realized the worst had happened.....
