**** So this is my interpretation of what happened on the Titanic. I hope you guys like it. *****

Prologue

The icy water hit me like a bath of needles, piercing skin of every inch of my pale body. The clothes on my skin did nothing other then weigh me down. People were in a panic everywhere, a mess of thrashing limbs and half frozen faces, each trying to stay afloat in a desperate bid for survival. I had to get away, away from the panic. I forced my frozen limbs to move, using whatever remaining energy to kick away from the fray. It was then that I was more then thankful for the lifebelt that was around my waist, the only thing keeping me afloat. Not everyone had one, and I knew that not even half of us in the water would make it through the night. The sun was long from rising and the dark surrounded us, the few stars blinking above us doing nothing to cure the empty feeling that filled my frozen insides.

A twitching of light came from the distant lifeboats, not close enough to offer any real comfort. They would not come back for us, but I didn't care. Elise was in one. As I bobbed in the dark waveless water I smiled to myself. At least she knew I loved her, at least she and Anna were safe, I could rest easily knowing I had done all that I could for them. The sudden feeling of sleepiness took me. My eyelids dropping as I trembled again. They were safe I repeated in my mind. With the thought in mind I was able to rest. I knew I wouldn't make it. Though they would, and even facing death the thought made me the happiest man on Earth.

Dying was like sleeping, drifting off peacefully. I had thought about my death before, the different ways it could happen. Never did I imagine dying in the icy waters of the Pacific. Never did any of us imagine that an iceberg would appear in the night and collide with the ship, the ship that had been labelled 'unsinkable.' Ironic that it was now at the bottom of the ocean. It was only weeks earlier that the newspaper headlines marvelled of the Titanic's size, now it would read 'Unsinkable ship lost, with many passengers and Crew.' The words speaking of the loss, the loss of men, women and children. I had no idea if they would find me, or if my mere existence would ever be recorded. I had been on Titanic's maiden voyage as had many of the others who would not be remember. We had lost our lives, and by morning our stories would have come to an end.
