"Harley, I have decided to re-marry, and you'll be having a new mother."

Before, it had always been just my father and I. We always ate breakfast and dinner together, and it was very peaceful. But when he decided to re-marry a woman named Kelly Parkson, I was ecstatic. She was very kind when I met her for the first time, and I, who have always been an only child, have suddenly become the second eldest daughter of four children - a seven-year-old girl, a boy around two months younger than me (we're both sixteen), and another boy who was a year older than I am . I have always been curious as to what it felt like to have a mother or any siblings, and I was more than determined to try to be a dependable older sister.

And today was the day I'd meet my new brothers and sisters.

My father and Kelly decided to bring me to the Parkson household for a few months while the couple would go planning for their wedding and renovate the other house for more space (and God knows what else). According to them, it was more of a trial of "how the children would get along with each other", so I had to go and do my best to be a really good sister.

"Aren't you excited?" my father grinned as he turned the car engine on and drove away from the house. I guess that would be the last time I'd ever see the house that small again.

I grinned. "Of course I am! I can't wait to see what they'd look like."

My father lets out a small chuckle. "I guess that means your going to a new school, then."

"I guess so," I sigh. I didn't have any permanent friends, or a group of people I hang out with at lunch everyday. I hang out with some group for a few days (or weeks) and then I change groups when I somehow grow tired hanging out with them. I wasn't quite sure when I started doing that, but even though I didn't have a lot of friends, like any other teenager, I had the feeling of discomfort in my stomach at the thought of tranferring schools, especially in the middle of the school year. "I just wish this school would be as good as my previous one."

"Honey, I'm sure your school would be just fine." He turns to give me a reassuring smile and looks back to the front. This gave me a sign that the conversation was over and I brought out my ipod to listen to music for the roadtrip.

I woke up to my father lightly tapping my shoulder with a small grin. I pulled my earphones out of my ears and rubbed the sleep out of my eyes.

"We're already here, Harley." he softly said and I let out a small yawm before coming out of the car. I guess this is it. Hopefully I'd give my new siblings a good impression so that we'd be able to get along.

The both of us walked to the front door and I pressed a shaky finger to the doorbell. I felt my finger become clammy out of nervousness, and I took a sharp intake of breath. From the inside of the house, footsteps were heard, and the door was opened to reveal Kelly, my future mom.

"Hey, Dave," my mom greeted my dad, "and Harley! How're you doing? Come in!" she ushered us into the house and into the living room.

If I were to say something about the living room, I'd say that it was adorable. Kelly worked as an interior designer, so it was pretty natural for them to have such cute houses and rooms. A fireplace was lit at the edge of the room, and two couches were placed across each other between a coffee table on a beige carpet.

"The kids are in their rooms," Kelly told us as me and my father took a seat in one of the couches. "Hold on let me call them - Luke! Jack! Annie! Come down here!"

It took around a few moments before the sounds of doors closing and footsteps from the second floor were heard. There were soft murmurs and the creaking of the staircase. It wasn't long before three children came into the living room.

"There they are!" Kelly exclaimed and grinned at me. "Kids, this is Harley. She's going to stay with you for a few months - maybe for a long time. She's your new sister."

Heat rushed to my cheeks as I completely sat still for a moment, and slowly smiled at the new company. "Um, hi." I said rather awkwardly and looked at each of Kelly's children carefully.

I took a look at the eldest boy first. He was tall, tan, and he was quite muscular, which made me guess he's the athletic type. He's got green eyes, messy blonde hair, and freckles all over his cheeks. He was wearin a light blue t-shirt with blue shorts.

Kelly follows my gaze and tells me, "That's Luke, my eldest boy. Luke, say hello to your new sister over here."

Luke looks at me with a friendly smile. "Hi Harley," he says, "I really hope we'd get along well."

I returned his smiled and nodded, proceeding to look at the little girl who was obviously the youngest. She looked adorable; she had big blue eyes and rosy cheeks covered in freckles. Her hair was blonde too, tied up into pigtails, and when she smiled or opened her mouth wide enough, I could see her small, crooked teeth.

"This is Annie, our little angel." Kelly says and Annie just waves at me shyly. I smile at this adorable action and return the favour.

And last, but not the least, the boy my age. His hair was a darker shade of blonde and his green eyes closely resembled to his older brother's. He wore a baseball shirt, the sleeves were the color of blue, and, like Luke, some boxers.

He held a stoic expression on his face; there was no smile, nor any disapproving facial features. He just stared back at me.

"And that boy is Jack. He's very quiet but I do hope you can get along, since the both of you are the same age and you will be going to the same school."

I nod, and give Jack a small smile which he does not return.

I inwardly sigh. The next few months are going to be interesting, I didn't doubt it.
