They Should Have Noticed

They should have noticed.

She talked, but they didn’t listen

She did things, but they didn’t watch.

She cried, but they didn’t hear.

She felt lonely, but they didn’t know.

She looked for help, but they didn’t care.

She couldn’t take it anymore, but they didn’t realise.

That was…until it was too late.

She didn’t come to dinner one night, but they didn’t know she wasn’t there.

Her mother came to her room later that night, carrying a plate of food for her.

She opened the door, and was greeted by a horrible sight.

Her own daughter, in the middle of the room, held up by what seemed like a noose.

Her mother screamed as she dropped her plate, scrambling to her daughter, trying to get her down.

But it was too late, even she could tell, but her mother didn’t want to believe that.

The rest of the family came, and helped get her off the noose, the paramedics came, but everyone knew.

It was too late.

She was gone, and there was nothing they could do about it.

There was one thing in everyone’s head that night.

They should have noticed.

They should have noticed earlier.
