Foreword:

This story is set in the future, a sci-fi short story. Before reading this passage, reader, there are some things you may need to know first.

This short story is based around one of the citizens of Earth in the future. The time unit they use is 'Strong Years', so it is 1079 Strong Years. Using our year unit calendar, it's 6332.

This story is in non-chronological order, so you may need to follow a bit closely to know what is happening.

In the story, the "Child", is the protagonist's old self.

The society system goes like this:

Since the Earth was getting more and more over-populated, the UN (United Nations) and the scientists around the world decided to follow this system of elimination. It is based off the quote, "Only the Strong may survive." (Yes, this sounds very fascist), that the people will take tests (psychological, physical, IQ, EQ, etc.). It is compulsory and the people will get measured by certain 'Strong Points', so long the 'Strong Points' are above their expectation/benchmark, the people can live.

What happens to people who fail or break the laws/rules?:

They will get thrown into a part of the scientists' facility and will get executed by the SCP (Secure. Contain. Protect.) Euclid (An Object Class) Objects in which they roam around freely in this area. The people are left with only one oxygen tank, a key card, and their wits to survive. Oxygen tanks are placed randomly in the facility so the people have limited time to find them. Once you switched your oxygen tank four (4) times, you will be escorted by one of the workers back into the society.

[More detail on SCPs see containmentbreach.wikia.com/wiki/... and www.scp-wiki.net , they do not belong to me, they belong to the game/literature/creature creator.]

What is the 'RRP'?:

It is a huge group of people who are against the system of eliminating the 'Weak' and the promotion of 'Buying Oxygen'. It is the abbreviation for 'Rebellion for the Rights of People'.

How the heck can the people eat, drink or speak with the masks on?:

The people will lift up the mask but not too much so it covers their nose, then drink or ingest. The poisonous oxygen is not effective if breathed through the mouth.

There is a microphone in the mask. The person just has to speak, then the listener have to press the numbers indicated on the speaker's suit on a tablet so that the speaker is enabled for the listener.

Without further ado, I hope I haven't spoiled a lot of the story, I hope you can proceed to the story and enjoy.

Yours,

The Author

Even out your breathing.

In.

Out.

In.

Out.

In...

And out...

Anxious, nervous, and apprehensive, the boy fixed his eyes ahead, bolting forward, his feet echoing across the shiny, slippery floor. He occasionally glanced back to slow down whatever's chasing him, his face beaded with sweat. Air gushed past his ebony hair, pushing it back. The boy dashed past several doors and windows of the enclosure, a beeping sound could be heard.

"Oxygen percent: Low."

The same boring female voice echoed through his ears, ringing over and over again.
