Chapter three: "How can I trust you?!"

Dipper's (POV)

When I awoke, Wendy was gone. She wasn't by the cave opening, she wasn't by me, I wasn't sure where she was. I then heard little yips from outside the cave. I walked out of the cave, and saw two wolf pups playing in the grass. I smiled until I saw the parents walk in. I panicked and walked back to the cave slowly and quietly. But not quite enough. I stepped on a stick, making one wolf look up at me. He growled as his mate looked up at me. Both wolves growled as the pups continued to play.

One wolf leaped to me, only to be trampled by another wolf. I got a closer look at the wolf and saw it was Wendy. She growled at the other she wolf and she growled back. The other she wolf leaped to Wendy and bit her hard. She throw her off, and bit her shoulder, making her and her mate flee with the pups in paw. She turned to me and licked my head gently. I blushed as she went back to the den. Okay, she saved me twice, and I still feel uneasy around her!? I don't get it, maybe I'm just not used to being with a wolf for this long, with out getting hurt.

Later that evening I took a walk in the woods as Wendy was back at the cave. I walked for a good 15 minutes before I got caught into a bear trap. I screamed in pain as I fell to the ground bleeding.

Wendy's (POV)

I heard what sounded like a mouse who's tail got caught in a mouse trap. I walked out of the cave and went in search for who ever made the sound. I then saw deer tracks near some bushes, and I knew then who made the sound. Dipper. I walked in the bushes, to see Dipper there in a bear trap. I don't know why but, I couldn't help the tears from streaming down my face as I saw him there. I ran over to Dipper and tried to wake up him. I nudged him several times, but he didn't move.

I had to get him out of the trap, and fast. I put my paws between the trap's jaws and started to pull them apart. By doing this my paws began to bleed, but I didn't care. Once the trap was open, I picked up Dipper and carried him back to the den. When we got there, I set him down gently and got some big leaves. I got some herbs and put them on the leaves. Once I did that I wrapped the leaves around his wound on his leg. I curled myself around him, and waited for him to awake.

Dipper's (POV)

When I awoke, I was back in the cave and Wendy was curled up around me. I felt something weird on my leg, and I turned to see leaves on my wound. She helped me? I turned back to her, and she was fast asleep. I smiled and kissed her noise. I guess I can trust her, to protect me. I layed back down with her around me, and fell asleep feeling safe and sound.
