The campus was rowdy with the reunion of friends and classmates. Sweat beaded down his cheek as he pedaled past the crowd to the racks.
It was a miracle that he was accepted to this school based on his grades and unmotivated work ethic. This school wasn't even his first choice, maybe his track record made a difference. Naruto slid the chain around his front wheel, locking it in place. Sighing in relief, he grabbed his map from the basket and tried his best to maneuver to his first class.
None of his friends, except for Lee was attending K University. Shikamaru already had a degree since freshmen year of high school, Kiba became an apprentice dog psychic, and Sakura embarked on the path to her medical career. Only Naruto was indecisive on his plans. He walked into one of the modern units of the school, hoping to be in the right building. He kept his eyes down and his headphones in both sides. The hallway was generally empty except for the few who stood by talking.
Sadly, he crashed immediately into someone, dropping his phone and landing on his side. He mentally cursed, hoping no one except the offender saw his fall.
"I'm sorry, I wasn't looking." He picked up his phone and searched for his map.
"It's fine." They replied. They showed him the map while he was still on the floor, searching. He smiled, taking it out of their hand.
"Thanks. I would've been lost wi-" He started to say as he stood up. It was the last person that he'd hoped to see. Sasuke Uchiha.
He also looked at him in shock, "Naruto?"
Spinning around, he darted down the hall. Sasuke followed after, being much faster than him.
"Wait! Don't run from me!" He was grabbed by the wrist. "I wanted to talk to you but you were gone at the ceremony."
He pulled his hand out of his grasp, glaring at him. "I thought it was obvious that I don't want to talk to you."
Sasuke had grown very mature and was even wearing glasses now. "No, I still need an answer for why you broke up with me."
Naruto turned his head away, clenching his fist tightly. "I thought it was pretty obvious. I got bored of you. Why can't you let go, I even slept with your brother, for God's sake!"
That was a total lie.
"But still, I need to talk to you."
He scoffed, folding his arms across his chest. "What is there left to talk about? We have nothing connecting us to each other. You're like a stranger to me. Get over it, Uchiha."
He stomped away, getting back to the task of finding his class. He tried to stay composed until he disappears around the corner, his knees turned into jelly and he collapse against the wall.
Why was he here?
Everything that he said in order to hurt him since that day was all a lie. His parents had begged him to break up with their son, for the betterment of his future. They offered him money, which he was in desperate need of.
Regretfully, he had to let go. His heart beat loudly in his chest, constricting his airways.
He thought he'd never see him again. Why now? After years of healing, the guilt returns head-on, but was it just the feeling of guilt?
After completing a full day of classes and emotional turmoil, he was ready to go home and eat ramen before sleeping. The movers most likely would have all his things settled in his dorm room. Thankfully, the complex wasn't a long ways away from his last class, the sun was slowly setting over the city skyline already.
Locking his bike at the complex bike rack, he entered the complex up to 2nd floor where his room was. Unlocking the door with his new key, he swung the door open, hoping for the feeling of fatigue but instead felt guilt.
"Why are you in my room?" Sasuke walked up to him, hands tucking in his pocket. Naruto took a few steps back as he invaded his space. Sasuke reached above him, slamming the door closed.
"Since we'll be living together, I need to talk to you, roommate." He glared at him from over his glasses.
