I stood in front of the humongous doors and stared up at them. My eyes lingered over the rest of the building. Just as grand, if not grander, than the front door. My arm was up and hand in a fist poised to knock, but I just couldn't do it.
Me, Clarissa Sumner, could not knock on a door.
Sighing I spun around and went to take a step to leave but saw a man standing a few meters away. Tensing up I took a sharp intake of breath and had a moment to wonder how I hadn't heard him before he asked "Who are you?" in a gruff voice that was almost a growl.
Ok, screw that it was definitely a growl, and I smirked a bit. Straight to the point, where was the small talk? Rudeness will get you no-where, love.
Not that he could see my smirk though, as I had a bandana over the bottom half of my face. I also wore a black hoodie, hood pulled up, strawberry blonde hair in its tiny ponytail underneath, and some black skinny jeans with combat boots.
Back to the point at hand- he asked me a question. I simply answered, "Someone," before stalking off and returning home.

My home was an RV in the middle of a forest. I stepped in, slamming the door behind me. Why hadn't I done it? It was Friday and I had gone every day this week, but I hadn't been able to knock. It was just a door, right? What the hell was wrong with me. Perhaps it was my distrust of the promise of any kind of 'sanctuary'.
Last time someone had said I could trust them led to me having to either keep my mouth shut, cover it with this stifling bandana, or get screamed at.

The next day I decided not to even attempt to go and knock, so I just stood at a cliff near my forest. Technically not mine but whatever, right? The morning breeze was beautiful and the sun was just rising.
I closed my eyes and took a deep breath, taking in the smells around me. The sea breeze was calming and I heard seagulls chatting out over the water. There where gentle waves lulling against the rock face below me, but none of these noises quite hid the almost silent footsteps behind me.
Whirling around my hands curled into fists and my eyes narrowed as I saw the man from yesterday. Damn, I was glad I had my bandana on.
"Did you follow me?" I asked. Yes, just great Clarissa instead of asking what the hell he wants, you ask if he followed you, of course, he did! Unless there's a tracking device on me... Technically that's following the tracking device and not me. Wait why would there even be a tracking device what the-
"Yes."
I raised an eyebrow. How dare he interrupt my mental conversation with myself. Oh well. "Followed your scent." He added.
"Not creepy at all," I said from under my bandana.
"Just like you showing up and saying you where 'someone' wasn't creepy in the slightest." Oh so he's a sassy one huh?
"Not creepy in the slightest," I chuckled,"going up to doors and going to knock on them and then deciding otherwise is totally normal for me." I said in return, before adding, "Did you want something?"
"Just interested in what you were doing yesterday, and I seem to have my answer now."
I turned back around to face the sea, "Yes, you do." I glanced back at him only to find no one there. To be honest I wouldn't be surprised if I had imagined it all._~*^*~_
Four paws pounded the ground. Flashes of grey disturbed the underbrush. A wolf bounding through the trees. It slows down to drink from a river. Shining light reflects off it's metal looking teeth. Deer scent wafts down river and a wolfish grin forms over the shining teeth. The wolf begins it's hunt.

Clarissa had her bandana around her neck as she took a bite of her sandwich. Taking slow steps towards the now familiar doors, she shoved the last of her food in her mouth and chewed it quickly before swallowing, pulling her bandana up and raising her hand to the door. "Come on, you can do this." She whispered to herself.
Knock. Knock. Knock.
She bit her lip as she waited for the door to open, and she didn't have to wait long.
So, I apologize for not updating my other story for so long and I wish I had a good excuse but this is how it is; I have been procrastinating my school homework by reading fanfiction, when I should have been procrastinating it by writing fanfiction. Oh well. I realize that this chapter is jumping around a lot but I wanted to get through some stuff. See you next chapter! (2016)
