Jenny had always felt left out. In class she was last picked for every team, never found a partner to pair with during lessons and had never had a true friend.

On the night of her 14th birthday she looked out of her bedroom window and stated in awe up at the stars and full moon that covered the dark blue but clear sky.

"I wish just for once people saw me as useful, I'm sick of being seen as useless. All ideally want is a friend who can see my true potential"

She sighed, turned and walked towards her bed. She closed her eyes as a tear rolled down her cheek.

The next day when Jenny arrived in school she noticed a new boy going into her class. When Jenny walked though the door she saw all the other girls in her class crowding him. As she walked past she managed to take a glimpse at his face. He was gorgeous. Jenny sighed to herself as she made her was to her desk at the back and sat down.

"Thats Jenny" a snobby girl called Milsy said "no one talks to her, she's pretty useless if you ask me. As useless as a white crayon" the other girls around the new boy began laughing and Milsy smirked at Jenny, who could feel her eyes welling up.

The new boy looked from Jenny back to Milsy "we'll maybe she just needs to find someone who prefers black paper" and with that he turned from Milsy and the other girls to join Jenny at the back.

"I'm Mark" he said holding out his hand

"Jenny" Jenny said taking it in hers.

The two became inseparable.

The moral of this story, don't feel down when you don't feel useful. It's just the people you're around. They haven't found your use. As everyone knows on white paper a white crayon barely shows up and can be seen as useless. However use a white crayon on black paper and its beauty shows.
