*~*~* This song has nothing to do with the story but it was on repeat as I was writing so I thought 'why not' and put it up for you guys to listen to! *~*~*
"Listen up Amelia and Jonathan, I have a very important story to tell you today."
"Does the story have ninja aliens in it?" Jonathan asks excitedly and the grandmother can only smile and shake her head lightly.
"Not quite,"
"What about pretty ballerinas?" Amelia enquirers, standing up and doing a small twirl.
The grandmother smiles, picturing the small boy in her mind doing a ballerina twirl. "No, no ballerinas in this story."
"Then what is the story about, grandma?" Amelia asks, taking a seat on the couch next to her brother, Jonathan, and opposite their grandmother.
"It's about a young boy who followed his dreams despite what everyone told him. It's about how a boy went from a poor, country town person to a famous violinist. A boy who –"
"A violinist?" Jonathan shouts, screwing his face up in dislike.
"Yeah, violinists are lame!" Amelia crosses her arms across her chest, a pout across her lips. The grandmother can only smile at her seven-year-old grandchildren.
"My children, the story is not about the fact he is a violinist, but the violinist himself and how he overcame obstacles to do what he believed was right and what he loved most. When you read a book, it is not the ending that matters most but the story that led to the ending. What is the final page without what came first?"
"But he's still a violinist and they're boring and they make yucky music!" Jonathan argues.
"Yeah," Amelia agrees, uncrossing her arms and nodding in agreement with her brother. "It's all loud and screechy and yucky!"
"My children, would it make a difference if the boy was a guitarist?"
"Yes, that makes it sounds like a much better story." Amelia nods once and crosses her arms once more.
"Who is to say that a guitarist is more important than a violinist, my children? The story is about a boy who played a violin beautifully, not a guitar. I'll let you listen to some of this boy's music later to show you how beautiful it is."
Relenting to their grandmothers offer, the children nodded in agreement, though they were still unhappy the boy in the story played the violin and not a guitar.
"This boy was seven when he realised he wanted to learn how to play the violin," the grandmother smiles at her grandchildren, watching their faces light up.
"Jonathan, that's how old we are!" Amelia screeches and Jonathan smiles at his twin sisters.
"Indeed, it is Amelia." The grandmother smiles brightly at her beautiful grandchildren. "And he was very much like the two of you. Always shouting and expressing himself like you Amelia, but also quiet and observing everything, like you Jonathan."
The twins exchanged a look and they smile at each other before nodding in agreement over something, leaving the grandmother curious as to what they are thinking.
"Keep going grandma," Amelia urges, sitting on the edge of the couch in anticipation.
"This story is going to take a while, so get comfy my children. This story begins in 1949, when the boy is seven-years-old...
