After I had finished The Sorcerer's Stone, and loved it, all that was natural was to read the rest in the series. I'm working on that now.
My alarm clock buzzed beside me, causing me to flinch and the book, The Order of the Pheonix, to fall off my face. "Wha-Oh shit!" I said groggily, scrambling to get to the book before I lost my page. It's happened before, and you do not want to see me when I've lost my page. I'm like a maniac. I sighed in relief when I caught the book and put my book-mark in it, satisfied that my book was safe.
I looked over at the clock beside me and internally groaned; time for school. My own personal hell. Getting up from my comfortable recliner that I had fallen in asleep in while reading last night, I walked up the stairs to my room, quickly getting dressed and falling on my bed. Only seconds after I had lain down, my dad yelled from downstairs, "Breakfast time, Julie!" I called back, "Coming, dad!" I walked tiredly down the stairs and practically shoved the whole waffle in my mouth. When I was hungry, I was hungry.
After breakfast, I got my school stuff together and brushed my hair. I reluctantly brushed my teeth also, which I hate doing. Toothpaste tastes like my Aunt Gertrude's shit. Don't ask how I know what that tastes like. Let's just say, I don't exactly like raisins anymore.
The bus came way too early for my liking, so my dad takes me to school every morning since he has to go to work anyway. We piled into his car and he drove down to Casper Middle School. I have no idea why they call it Casper Middle School considering the small town I live in doesn't have anything to do with whatever Casper is. I guess my town is just weird like that.
I got out of my dad's old car, hoping that he wouldn't embarrass me like he always does. Then again, the world isn't a wish-granting factory... "I love you, my cutie pie!" I put my head inside my hood and ignored the laughter that came from passerby kids. They have no idea what I would do to them if I was a fictional character! Yep, quite the threat, right? Wrong. It's a good thing I didn't say it aloud. Now, that really would've killed.
When I got to the doors to the school, jogging slightly to get to the door before it shut, an arm reached out in front of me and grabbed the door before it could slam in my face. Without looking up, I said, "Thanks." I looked up and the half smile I had previously been sporting disappeared. "Who are you?" I asked, not caring about how potentially rude that was. "Transfer student. My name is Christopher, but people call me Chris."
Let's just say, Christ was hot. Dark brown hair with chocolate brown eyes to match. My eyes raked over his muscled arms and broad chest. I would've started drooling if he hadn't said, "So what's your name?" He raised his eyebrow slightly in that cute way that I love that guys do. "I, uh, well... Julia. That's my name," I said, walking down the hallway. "So, anyways, what's your first class?" I asked, trying not to sound too curious and eager. "World Geography with Ms. Fellows," he answered. "Me too. Here, let me show you the way there," I replied. I'm gonna pretend that I didnt take any pleasure in grabbing his forearm and dragging him down the hall to World Geography like old friends.
After that class, I told him where his next one was then skipped off to mine. Next was World History, English, etc until finally came Mr. Varner's class. Sam was sitting at our usual table. Except, this time, when I walked in, he looked up and smiles. He actually smiled at me! I don't know what that suggests, but I'm taking it. As I sat down, he said, "Hey, Julia?" He leaned in slightly so that he could whisper in my ear, "Would you wanna come to a party with me on Saturday?" The heat of his breath hitting my ear made me shiver slightly, but I nodded. I had originally planned to read all Saturday, but it can definitely wait. When class was almost over, he passed me a note.
It read:
Ethan Greenway's house. 8:00. Be there. xx.
-Sam
I hadn't even noticed Chris in the room staring at us intently.
Next was lunch. I was eager to get to Jenny and gush about what had just happened. "Ohmygoshjennyyouwontbelievewhatjusthappened!" I caught my breath at the end. "Whoa. Slow down, horsey. Explain," she said, stuffing low fat ice cream into her mouth. "Well, first off, I met this guy named Chris. He is so hot! He's in my first period. He was talking to me... I hope I don't bring down his social status... Whoopsies. Anyways, Sam asked me to go to a party with him on Saturday! AHHH!" We both squealed like the little girls we are. A voice behind me said, "Is this seat taken?" I looked up and saw Chris. I grinned at him, shaking my head. "Nope," I replied, popping the 'p' in 'nope.'
Jenny gave me the "he's super hot" look. Chris said, "Crap! I left my linch money in my locker. Hey.., Julia? Would you come with me to get it?" He bit his lip and I looked up, not seeing anything wrong with it, and nodded, getting up and following him. I looked back at Jenny and she gave me a wink as we walked off. I rolled my eyes and kept going.
When we got to Chris's locker I said, "So how're you liking it here?" He twisted around his passcode and answered, "Well, you're my only friend." I bit my lip at the word "friend." I started, "Chris? You know, maybe we shouldn't be friends. I mean, you're obviously athletic and you're good-looking... You could have a good life here. I'm not going to help your social status, my friend." He looked over at me in disbelief. "You actually think I care about that?" he said, backing me against the lockers, "I just care that we're friends. I also care that that Sam guy keeps his hands off you." It was my turn to look at him in disbelief. "What are you-" I started, but then, he leaned down and kissed me square on the lips. After a moment, I found myself kissing back, a tingling sensation going up my spine. I laced my hands in his hair and his put his hands on my waist, keeping me against the lockers. Lockers.
I remembered we were at school at that I barely knew this guy and immediately pushed him away. I looked at his kiss-swollen lips and squeaked, running to the bathroom. I wasn't coming out any time soon.
