What exactly is true love?
The word “love” has become so understated and overstated that it has lost its true meaning. Most teenagers who think they are in love, is most likely just lust, or what you can think as “puppy love.” Just because when either of them cries or gets hurt when the relationship ends, does not mean it is love, it’s human nature to cry when something that once meant something is suddenly torn apart. When friends break up, crying is also very likely but it does not mean you loved your friend in that way. To determine true love, it is crucial to ask questions about your feelings, and to question yourself about the sacrifices that you will make because you love the person.
If it is true love, you will do everything in your power to make the person you love happy. Questions such as: “Am I willing to leave this relationship as to make him/her happy?”, “Am I willing to wait forever for this person?” and lastly “Am I willing to sacrifice my life when it is needed for this person whom I love with all my heart?” Most people will say no to a lot of these questions and therefore obviously they do not in fact love the person as much as they thought they did. Love is also not about possession. It is not vital for an individual to possess (or be together with) the person he/she is in love with. Because as long as the person they love is happy, they will also be happy and content.
