Prologue

Pictures flashed in my mind and tears clouded my vision as I sped along the highway. My heart pounded in my chest while I gasped for air. I couldn't separate the pitch black, midnight sky from the road. Not a single car passed, leaving me completely alone with my thoughts. I couldn't stop thinking about it, the memories were too much to handle. I screamed as I tried to rid my brain of them.
As I raced along the highway at 80 mph I couldn't hear anything but that low ringing in my ears. Soon the loud pitter-patter of raindrops filled my head. Thunder and lightning cracked above, lighting up the sky just long enough to bring the whole world to life in front of me. The tsunami of tears in my eyes took over and I lost sight. A bright light added to the blur and a low honk filled my ears as I blinked the tears from my eyes just a few seconds before it happened. Then everything was silent and black.
