I wish I knew who Hunt and White where, Becky thought, hopelessly.
'You can't!' Cassie, the Stormlady told.
Becky struck her tongue out at her, annoyed like a 3-year-old.
'I saw that!'
'I know that!' Becky smirked.
'Now, let me tell you the common rules in magic. Listen carefully!.'
'Go ahead, Storm.' Becky said, jumping onto her bed.
'Well, as I said, you can't use magic to cheat, but you have some amount of freedom over your magic.'
'Okaaay! Interesting!' Becky let out, shifting to a comfortable position of her bed. 'Next!'
'Next, the people around you, I mean no one, other than the wizards and witches of the Magical Society are supposed to know that you've got magical powers.' Cassie yawned. 'Not even your parents.'
'Even if you give me the right to let them know, I'm not gonna tell them. You can trust me with that, Cassie.'
'Then...if you've got any problems in performing magic, you can be assisted by Storm,' she said pointing to herself, smiling brightly, 'and if Storm couldn't solve a certain problem, the MS would. You shouldn't be assisted by any other witch or wizard.'
'I got it! Then?'
'That's it! These are the common rules. Any doubts, Cross?'
'Nope! Can I do my homework, now? Alone? I've got loads of them. And you know, I can't use magic on them.'
Cassie laughed. Yes, that same horrible 'Hahaha'. 'Okay! Then I'll leave.'
'Er-wait.' Becky interrupted. How can I call you if I have any problem?' Becky asked.
'Just say 'Storm' three times,' she roared, 'and I'll be there for you. See ya!'. With that Storm disappeared in a flash of light, but the sweet smell persisted in Becky's room.
When she went down the stairs, she saw her mom talking on the phone. (actually she was squealing with pleasure)
Becky's dad was trying to watch a comedy show in the Television, but withdrew as he found that his wife's voice exceeded the maximum volume of the television.
What is she so excited about?, Becky thought, looking at her mom, who was organising a mini dance in the hall out of excitement.
Finally when she hung up, she turned to her husband, a huge smile on her face. Then she caught Becky standing on the staircase, bearing a blank expression.
'Becky, your brother is coming home, in two days. He's got holidays for twelve days.' she screamed, her face filled with happiness.
Becky froze. 'WHAT? Rob's coming? For twelve whole days?' she asked horrorstruck.
NOOOOO, was all she could think.
'Why, you're not happy to meet your brother?' her mom asked, confused.
Her question was left unanswered, as Becky ran to her room, glaring at nothing in particular.
Rob Corner is Becky's elder brother, who goes to college in Coketown, which is 20 miles away from Stonesberg.
Did I tell you that Stonesberg is where Becky lives with her parents, and studies. Did I? Anyway, I told you. Never mind!
Rob has always been a torture to Becky. Whenever he came home during his holidays, he would bring his stupid girlfriend with him. All he did was try to disturb Becky with her works.
'I'm dead!' Becky thought out loud.
'Hey, Will!' Becky whispered to the spectacled boy. She hit school, and went straight to find Will and give him his book. Becky clearly knew where to find him. Library! So she rushed to the library to meet Will Sober.
'Hi, Becky. Did you do anything with my book? Any good results?' he asked when he saw Becky approaching him.
'Take a look!' Becky told him, pulled his huge book out, and handed it to him with a smile.
He gazed at it surprised for a while. 'How did you do that? I can't see any tapes, here.' He looked up at Becky, smiling faintly. He scratched the spine to feel any traces of duct tape, but failed.
Becky thought for a quick reason to hide magical attempt, but was saved, anyway. Will gazed behind Becky's head, a look of disgust on his face.
Becky whirled around to look at a...a very bad couple entering the library. It was Silvia, with a somehow handsome, good looking guy, who's hair colour resembled both Will's and Becky's. Streak black!
'What the hell?' Becky muttered under her breath.
The disgust in Will's face increased slowly. 'You know, Silvia's been so much in the library,' Will said, smirking, 'with that guy.' He pointed at the senior boy with her.
'Oh, really? They look so odd together.' Becky mouthed, gaping.
Silvia saw Becky and Will, then started to do her Drama-Queen job. She started talking loudly. Becky rolled her eyes, and heard to the Drama queen with tepidest interest. All she was trying to do was make them know that she's got a boyfriend. Silvia never changed, Becky thought.
Once when the ugly couple was too close to Will and Becky, Silvia squeezed the high school guy's biceps in a horrible way, which was actually meant to be seductive.
Will started coughing. Cough! Cough!
Yuck! Disgusting, Becky thought. 'You alright, Will?' she asked, when he'd stopped coughing.
He nodded, as his specs got misplaced on his nose. He corrected his specs quickly.
Before leaving the library, Silvia turned around and shot an ugly look at Becky. Huh? She never changed, Becky sank into a bench and started flipping through the pages of a Celebrity magazine.
When Becky opened her grey coloured locker in the first floor, beside the Chem lab, something unexpected fell down. It looked like an invitation.
She grabbed it and ripped open the cover. Bloody hell! It was an invitation from Silvia. She's invited Becky for her birthday, tomorrow.
'Did you get it?' Kim came rushing to her. 'Oh, you got one, too.' She raised her invitation and waved it at Becky. 'She's invited everyone of our grade.'
'You're going?' Becky asked her friend.
Kim considered the question for a while. 'Only for food!' she grinned.
'Good! Me too!'
