Pocahontas' POV
"English."
"Math."
"Ugh!" Natalie threw her head back and groaned. "One class together this semester, that's just rude. We should be able to pick our own schedules, I mean, we are seniors."
"Natalie, I think we both know that your schedule would consist of four free periods if you picked your own schedule."
She blushed. "You know me too well."
A chorus of whoops and screams filled the hallway and suddenly something was slamming into my back, causing me to fall forward onto Natalie.
Once the flock of boys passed, I stood back up straight and rubbed my shoulder. "Who are they?" I asked, disgusted as I watched the last of them sprint down the hall.
"Transfers. I heard they work for the Deluxury hotel chain as construction workers."
"We're getting a hotel built around here?" All I could think of was how it might affect the resort's business.
"They haven't found anywhere to put it yet, but Ratcliffe is scouting for places from what I've heard around here."
"They better be as far away from my resort as possible."
"Your resort?"
I sighed, remembering that Natalie hadn't heard the news. "My birthday present was my dad signing the rights of the resort over to me." I sighed.
Her face lit up. "Why aren't you excited? That's so exciting!"
"Then you can have it." I murmured, looking down at my feet.
"Come on, Poca, you've wanted to manage that place since you were six, this should be a dream come true."
"That dream died with six year old me. I want to do something different with my life. I want to start a legacy, not carry on one."
"I guess you're right, but you have it anyway so why not make the best of it?"
I sighed. "That's what I'm going to have to do, even though I'll be co managing it with Kobe."
"Good luck with him," She laughed. "maybe you could land yourself a hot construction worker, like that one there." She pointed to someone over my shoulder, blushing.
I turned around and watched as a tall boy strode down the hallway, his piercing blue eyes focused on the hall ahead of him as he ran his fingers through his long blond hair.
I tore my eyes from him and focused back on Natalie. "No. I'm not encouraging the loss of business by dating one of the construction workers."
The bell rang and Natalie pulled her books closer to her chest. "Whatever you say." She said in a sing song voice before striding down the hallway.
I shook all of those thoughts from my head and started to my first class.
Because of the recent influx of boys, my AP biology class was packed and the ratio of boys to girls was four to one, landing me surrounded by boys at my lab table. Luckily, these were the less rowdy of the group, but it didn't mean that they weren't still rowdy.
Spit balls flew in front of me as a dark haired boy snickered over at one of my classmates, the saliva coated wads sticking on his book.
I ran my fingers through my hair and buried my face in my notebook, writing down the things Mr. Koch had put on the board.
The bell rang and books slammed in the seat next to me, making me jump.
"Sorry." The boy mumbled, sliding into the seat.
