As I scrubbed the dirty table at Landmark Diner, I thought about how worse could my life be. I mean, I'm an 18-year-old who has a dead beat job, is responsible for 2 children, and still lives with her mother. I can barley get the time and effort to go to college. I gazed out the window and looked into the beautiful sunset. Atlanta is so beautiful. The people here, there personalities, there all amazing.

"Alex! Stop gazing out window and scrub table. Nasty brown spot don't clean self." Mr. Zhang barked at me, ruining my train of thought.

"Yes sir."

I scrubbed the stubborn brown spot that refused to move from its territory. After what seemed like hours of scrubbing I finally gave up and let the spot keep its claim.

"Alex! Stop horsing around. Just leave for the day. I got the rest." Mr. Zhang exclaimed.

"Are you sure?" I inquired.

"Yes, now leave before I change mind." Mr. Zhang replied. I let out an enormous yell in my mind. I left the towel on the table and ran towards the back to grab my things and check out. I pulled my hair out of its bun and let it flow free. I replaced my black slacks with some super cute skinny jeans I got from Hollister. I replaced my dirty, white button down shirt with a cute "Keep Calm And Live On" tank top. To finish my look I put on my beautiful MK flats and my MK shades from Sunglass Hut.
Now you may be wondering, "How can you afford such expensive things with minimum wage?" Well, let's say I have sources. I stuffed my ugly uniform in my duffel bag and left the diner. I gave Mr. Zhang a goodbye hug and went out into to the beautiful sunset.

"Alex!!!!" A familiar voice called out. I looked left and right and saw my best friend Angela running towards me.

"Angie!!!!" I cried out. We ran towards each other and gave each other a big bear hug.

"Well look who looks FA-BULOUS!" Angela bragged. "What's Gucci?"

"Girl not much. I have to head home before my mom blows a fuse over me leaving to go and have fun while she watches my kids." I sighed.

"Oh girl, she can eat a pineapple and choke on it. We are getting out tonight and having some fun!"

Angela jumped up and down and her body glistened in the sunset. Although she was black, her complexion was golden in the sunset.

"Angie I can't, I have to go home and see my children. And plus I'm living under my mom's roof so I have to apply to her rules. One being no parties." I said sadly.

"Lexi, cut the crap. I know a cool club we can go to and get freaking twisted. Come on!!! I'm sure your mom can babysit for a few more hours. Please!!"

Angela gave me that sad puppy look that I always fell for. How could you not?!

"Fine, I'll go, but you're buying." I gave in.

"Yaaasss, that's more like it. Now let's get you to a store where you can find the baddest dress in Atlanta."

***
I stepped up to the front door of my house and pulled out my keys. It was 5:30pm when I left work and 7:00pm when I arrived home. I took a deep breath and prepared myself for the scolding I was about to get. I opened the door and Chris Jr. ran towards me.

"Mommy, mommy you're home. I missed you so much." Chris gave me an enormous hug around my legs.

"Hi sweetie," I said grasping him in my arms, "how was your day?"

"Mom it was awesome, I made an E and my teacher put two stars on my star tracker. I wish you were there mommmy."
My little hugged me tightly. I had to miss his first day off school because I had to go in for an early shift.

"Where's Kendall?" I asked.

"She's upstairs in bed. She's really sick." Chris replied.

I put Chris down and went into the kitchen---where my mother worked to prepare dinner.

"Hey momma." I said.

She looked at me, waves her hand, and continued to cook. I guess she had had a rough day considering she had to babysit other people's kids and tend to Kendall. She was going to be enraged when I told her I was going to a party. I exited the kitchen, went back to the front door and grab my shopping bag, and walked upstairs. I stopped at my childhood room and sat the bag down and went to check on my little girl.

Knock Knock

I opened Kendall's door and saw her sleeping peacefully in bed. I tip toed over to her bottom spot of the bunk bed and gave her a quick kiss on the cheek. She must've have sensed my presence because she turned around and jumped up and gave me a bear hug.

"Hello to you, too." I said laughing.

"Hi mom." She coughed drastically.

I patted her back to help her get it out of her system.
"Mom, I don't feel so well." She cried.

"I know baby, mama is here to take care of you. For now just go back to sleep and rest your mind ok?"

"Ok."

I gave her one last kiss before leaving the room. I went back to my room and put my shopping back on my bed. At that moment my phone buzzed.
It was from Angela:

Be ready at 9:00pm, I'll pick you up and them well be off to CosmoLava. See ya then. (3)

I debated whether or not I should go. I mean my daughter is sick for crying out loud and my son wants to spend time with me. But, when is there ever any me time? I rarely get time to go and do things on my own. I guess I'll go and hope for the best.
