A sliver of light shone through the blinds. Those things were cheap and don't do their job. However, being a student in college means waking up at sunrise because the blinds cost less than a pair of goodwill jeans. I wearily rolled towards the wall opposite of the window. Today was not going to be an early rise day.
Noon was when I finally decided that getting up was necessary if I wanted to be a functioning human in society. So I dragged myself to the bathroom to start the monotonous routine: pee, contacts, shower, teeth, hair, clothes, done. Everyday was the same. Boring. Sadly, even the stereotypical college parties were repetitive. Tonight was Becky's party but I didn't give a shit. Her boyfriend would disappear, she would find him sleeping with her best friend, and they would fight until everyone felt awkward enough to leave. It happened every Friday, and since college kids are as smart as a bowl of dried beans when alcohol is involved, her house would still be packed with more people than the week prior. I couldn't have an option though because I was one of those idiotical pieces of dried bean that showed up to every party. In spite of that, I decided I needed to break that habit. No more bullshit parties where I got wasted enough to forget how miserable I was. I was going to go out into the world and prove that I, Philip Michael Lester, was no dried bean. I was a man that could do anything my heart desired, within a budget. As I looked in my wallet, I soon realized that my budget was, in fact, zero. I needed a job pronto. So in the mean time, my hearts desires would have to wait.
