Eternal tears
By Malcolm Lim
Earlier, I felt your skin,
smooth, light, and uncrinkled.
While unboxing the spouting joy,
I could always see,
Your eternal tears.
As I did so, I visualised
The clear night sky on the lesser gibbous,
Turned upside-down by the tumultuous storm with streaks
Of chill and tinges of flashes.
And how I wish I could understand,
But perhaps I already have,
Your eternal tears.
The wrongdoings blessed with the hindsight
Of torrents of time,
Puncturing, paralyzing, pressuring. And they
Probably led the grave grieve,
As I feel and touch,
Your eternal tears.
Maybe it has been long.
Maybe the storm has ceased.
Maybe everything I and you know
Has changed since we forgave you for time and rest.
But then again life is like a net,
And I will have always,
Your eternal tears.
Whenever the clock starts a new day,
And let free the melodies ring.
Through rivers of sorrow,
Through the raging inferno,
Through blood, skin, and bones,
I will always endear,
Your eternal tears.
