APT 23

LONDON, ENGLAND

I pulled my enormous suitcase through the doorway to the apartment that would be mine for the summer. Now this, this is nice. The doorway opened up to a common room with a table, chairs, and a few couches located next to a small kitchen area. I walked further into the complex, setting my things down in amazement.

My attention was drawn to a door, next to the kitchen area, held agape by a door stopper. I peered in to see two twin beds with metal frames against each wall, each adjacent to it's own matching desk. Not too bad, I thought to myself, exiting the room. I stopped in the doorway, surprised to see an identical door right across the apartment.

I walked over to see an identical room, just as empty, waiting for what seemed like two more people. I knew I was going to have one roommate but three girls sharing one bathroom? I don't know how well this is going to work out.

Just then I heard the door knob jiggling and the familiar sound of keys. I walked to the door and pulled it open, startling the girl who had been struggling to get inside. A surprised look came across her features, clearly not expecting someone else to have gotten there before her. I blinked back, now realizing how weird this is. I decided to smile and do a little awkward wave to introduce myself. Who doesn't like an awkward greeting, am I right?

"Um, hi," I started, "I'm Liv."

She stuck out a pale hand with dark polish, waiting for me to shake. "Brogan," she replied with a smile. I squeezed her hand, a little surprised that she went for a handshake. Do people still do that?

"Where are you from?" I asked, holding the door open, allowing her and her bags to enter the apartment.

"Cali," she said, wheeling her things farther into the room. I raised my eyebrows, impressed. She started analyzing the space, walking around a little bit. "Although I don't expect you to believe me, being as pale as I am."

I laughed, feeling relief spread throughout my body. At least one of my roommates is normal. She walked back over to me, smiling.

"Jealous. California seems amazing."

"Oh it is," she replied, turning to face me. "Since we're the first to arrive, roomies?" I grinned nodding and moving to my luggage.

"Sounds good."

We spent the next hour or so unpacking and helping each other set up our sides of the room. After our room was finished we decided to take a walk and explore our temporary home.

Brogan is probably one of the easiest people to get along with. Not only that, but she's gorgeous and has killer style. I think she may be my spirit animal.

I jiggled the keys in the door while she finished telling her story.

"I kid you not. My spoon flew across the room and smacked her right in her new nose. I swear I'm the reason she sounds like a kazoo."

I burst into a fit of laughter as I opened the door. Brogan followed, laughing as well.

"Oh." I said, my smile fading almost immediately. There were two girls, identical twins by the looks of it, standing there just staring at Brogan and I.

"What's so funny?" One asked, with a slight Spanish accent.

I don't think I've ever felt so frumpy in my life. The girls had dark brown, long, wavy hair, and light eyes. Their olive complexion gave them an appearance opposite of Brogan's, but equally as beautiful. WELL DON'T I FEEL AVERAGE.

"Oh we were just-"

"No we don't really care." The other one spoke, a mean smirk spreading across her lips.
