It was a cold, rainy and gloomy Monday afternoon and the school bus set off from Saint Mary's Secondary School in the outskirts of Edinburgh. A lonely, very sad Lilly Thompson sat at the back of the bus in the right corner watching the rain pitter-patter against the window. She let out a long sigh out of in-contentment, she looked around the lower deck of the bus at the gang of three girls with cold hearts who were seated near the front. She bit her lip in nervousness as the bus came to a halt and picked up her rug sack and umbrella . As she made her way to the door Sasha Murphy stuck her foot out almost tripping her over.
She put her umbrella up before her shoulder length brunette hair became soaked and began to walk home, Lilly stood in the rain after it dropped her off wishing the rain would wash a way the ache in her heart. Lilly is now 14 and 15 at the end of the month, now in year ten she spent the last two years in misery ever since Sasha spread a vicious rumor that Lilly didn't like to think about.
Opening the door of 80 Chimney Avenue Lilly took off her school shoes as she closed the door putting her umbrella by the door. "Mum! Dad!"she called, "in the kitchen honey!" she went in to see her two brothers, her parents sitting at the kitchen table. "We've been waiting for you to get home before I told you all the news"her Dad Mike said, "okay" Lilly dragged out as she sat down next to her youngest brother six year old Daniel. Anne her mother spoke first "We have some exciting news", "The company is transferring me to Los Angles, we moving" Mike announced hoping his children would be excited. "But Dad" 10 year old Billy whined "rugby just started up again". "Well tough we're moving there at the end of the week, I'll be ringing your schools tomorrow to inform them" Anne said getting quite annoyed by her son's wining "I think it's great Dad" Lilly told him her brown eyes showing her genuine delight in the idea. "I'm glad you think so sweetie, now you three upstairs while I sort out dinner" Anne ushered them out.
When she got in her room Lilly changed from her red and black uniform into her Dalmatian patterned onsie. Feeling snug and warm she turned on her TV to watch last night Baby Daddy to cheer herself up after being consistently ridiculed by her tormentors. Lilly used to have a pretty good time at school and then she started year 7 everything changed for her. Sasha and friends started that despicable rumor about her that left her friendless and made her life miserable, Lilly never knew what she did to her to be treated so cruelly. Maybe things would be different in California no one knew her there
She liked the idea of not dealing with her bullies everyday, having four out of ten lessons with them wasn't easy, no one kicking her shins sky blue when Viv one of Sasha's best friends sat behind her. No more spending most lunches with her form teacher getting chewing gum out of her hair, Lilly smiled at the thought and turned her attention back to the television.
The whole while Lilly was helping her family prepare to move to a new country all she could think about was that she had a new start. She could finally make a friend hopefully no one would bully her or humiliate her, if anyone did make her target maybe there would be someone would be there to stick up for her.
