“What are you doing this weekend?” Riley asked, as we walked home together.

It was finally Friday. Riley and I have been eating lunch, walking home and hanging out together for the past few days. I really like her, more than I care to admit. I love her beautiful laugh, the way her curly blonde hair outline her gorgeous face, her piercing blue eyes- what the hell is wrong with me? I sighed in frustration.

“What’s wrong?”

My head snapped up, to see Riley. I completely forgot she was here.

“Huh,” I said, feeling dumfounded.

“I asked, what were you doing this weekend, and then you sighed,” she said, looking at me curiously.

“Oh, uh, Kayla wants to go to the park, I’ll probably take the kids there.”

“Oh, cool. If you don’t mind, can I come with?”

“Of course I don’t mind if you came,” a smile finding its way to my face.

“Good,” she smiled, “then let me know when.”

“Okay.”

“Do you want to come over to my house?” she asked, a little hopeful.

“I don’t think I should, Tracy will be mad if I’m late again.”

“Oh, okay,” she sighed, her smile fading into a frown. I hated that I made her frown.

“But I might be able to after dinner.”

A smile found its way to her faces again, making me smile to.

“Good, then text me when you can.”

By this time, we were outside my house.

“I’ll see you later,” she said, and walked away.

“Bye Riley.”

I pushed my bike to the side of the house, and quickly ran inside. “I’m home.”

“In here,” I heard Mat’s voice echo though the hall, from the kitchen.

I walked down the hall, looked in the living room to see Jace playing games and then walked into the kitchen, to see Mat making pancakes.

“Wow, you can cook,” I laughed, seeing a plate full of pancakes, but, I also saw servile burnt once in the trash.

“Ha-ha, very fun,” he said, concentrating on the cake that was in the pan. “I didn’t know if you were gonna be late or not.”

“Sorry,” I said, kissing the top of Kayla’s head. She was sitting at the island, coloring in a coloring book.

“It’s okay, I don’t mind cooking. Go, take a break before I change my mind,” he said.

“Okay,” I smiled, as I walked upstairs. I walked into my room, closing the door behind. Sighing, I fell backwards on to my bed. My eyes slowly closed, and with a deep breath, I was fast asleep.

I cracked my eyes open, to see darkness. I rubbed my face groggily. I straightened up my shirt, and jeans that made my legs hurt. I looked at the alarm clock, it said ’12:23’. “Shit,” I whispers/yelled. I forgot about Riley.

I grabbed my phone off the night stand. I opened it, seeing I had three unread messages.
