John was squealing his way through the tunnel, moving quickly yet unannounced. He didn't want the Garba's attention now, and knew if he could attract it to the spot of the second explosive he could wound, or perhaps kill it off. John was used to this type of combat, yet the Garba turned out to be a very exclusive enemy.
The cave dripped with an almost death-like sweat that lingered on John's suit and face. He tried not to groan as he moved around each corner of the cavern looking subtly for the opening. He felt fearless, but his mind had a searing thought his companions might not be safe which led him to rush. Something he never liked to do. "This darn cave..." He expressed. "Need more light...?" He flicked on a small light he had attached to his waist, wasn't much but helped him to at least see his feet when the cavern lights had all but diminished.
He came to the opening with the planted explosives and settled down his heart-rate. He had galloped, almost ran through the entire cave and was sure to stay low. Whatever else he was capable of had at this point fell at the way-side as he tried to regain strength. He was planning on how to get the Garba's attention the entire time through the cave walk, with some success.
As he went out towards the opening more he grabbed two of his flares he had kept from the ship's emergency bag and lit them in the middle of the explosives. Each drip of the cave's damp wetness was now squelched by the flare's buzzing. Wherever his team was, he hoped they were safe again.
"YAAAHAHAHAH!!!!" He screamed. Trying to get the Garba's attention. He kept screaming and jumping louder and louder and the cavern remained unresponsive. He felt very much alone in depths the mine waiting for an answer from the Garba.
"YUAHAH!" He screamed again this time in a more high pitched voice.
As he was screaming for the last time, he heard a giant shift in the atmosphere above him. Almost like the rocks had unformed and moved drastically. He stopped yelling and made a strange face trying to hear what was happening slightly above him. Like a flash of lightening the Garba stormed through the upper part of the mine bringing a sea of rock debris with him.
John leaped out of the way and ran to the cave tunnel that led him back to the entrance. The Garba made a loud hissing noise as it curled up in the middle of the cavern. The explosives were directly in front, would it move forward? Only time could tell. His teeth glared like the sun and John could almost hear their razor like movement slithering away.
He made his way down the tunnel this time running as fast as he could. No sounds of explosives had been heard till he was a quarter of the way through the tunnel. At first he heard a small beep, then a loud blaring "BOOOOOM!" The cave behind him was now collapsing following him as he sped through the tunnel. He was now halfway through and the mine continued to fall.
"Ahhh man." He cried out as he went through the tunnel.
"What have I gotten myself...?" He tried to think positive.
He made it to the front of the mine and could see Lia and Sunny working on something in the corner. The mine behind him stopped falling slightly before he entered back into the beginnings of the mine. The ceiling of the entrance of the mine was bigger and denser keeping it from falling.
"I think we killed it!" He screamed.
His team's faces lit up brightly with smiles and he could hear there breathe and sighs of relief a couple feet away. "Are you okay John?!" Lia ran over to him trying to help him over to where her and Sunny where.
