You were born 22q11 deletion syndrome, which is a genetic mutation which puts people with it at high risk of developing a psychotic disorder.

Unfortunately, when you were six years old, you were diagnosed with Psychosis. Psychosis is a psychotic disorder which – in its early stages - can cause:

•difficulty concentrating

•depressed mood

•sleep changes—sleeping too much or not enough

•anxiety

•suspiciousness

•withdrawal from family and friends

•ongoing unusual thoughts and beliefs

They were the symptoms you had as a child in your early stages. Your mum and dad were worried about you, however they overlooked it until you started to develop the symptoms for the later stages:

•delusions

•hallucinations

•disorganized speech—switching topics erratically

•depression

•anxiety

•suicidal thoughts or actions

•difficulty functioning

That was when they started to worry. Your mum and dad couldn't stand the fact that you were 'Crazy', so they took you to the local doctor, who sent you to the hospital for tests.

After lots of tests, you were diagnosed with Psychosis.

You was sad and anxious all the time and you didn't sleep much, you couldn't focus and never talked about the same thing for more than five minutes. You had hallucinations, and one of the biggest, most important hallucinations was Michael. Michael was your imaginary friend, he had red hair, green eyes and was really tall. From what you can remember, he was sarcastic and could be a dick, however he really cared about you. Michael was the only one who you liked enough to bother talking to when you were younger. He didn't care when you changed the topic, he didn't care if you were depressed, he didn't care if you woke him up because you couldn't sleep; he only cared about you.

As soon as you were diagnosed with Psychosis, you were taken into the mad house. Well, its real name was the 'Institute of London', however you called it the mad house.

You stayed in the mad house for a total of 6 months before your Psychosis was over. The person you talked to most over those 6 months was Michael, however towards the end of the 6 months, he spent less and less time with you, until one day he vanished completely. You remember waking up to an empty bed and crying because he wasn't there when he promised he would be.

After you had recovered it took some time to get back into the swing of things, however once you'd gone into middle school you managed to make some friends and you didn't rely on Michael anymore.

You guess that it was good that you lost Michael, or you'd have been that 'Crazy freak' for the rest of your life. That doesn't mean that you considered Michael any less real than when you were six.

"Why did you set out four plates?" your mother questioned you when she walked into the dining room.

"One for you, one for daddy, one for me and one for Michael!" your mother groaned, her confused expression dropping into a glare.

"Indie, he's not real!"

"Yes he is!" You shouted back, grabbing Michael's hand. "He's right here!"

"THERE IS NOBODY THERE!" your mother screamed.

"I'M NOT MAD MUMMY! MICHAEL IS REAL!"

"MICHAEL IS IN YOUR IMAGINATION! THERE IS NO MICHAEL!"

"HE'S MY BEST FRIEND!"

"YOU'RE INSANE!"

"I HATE YOU MUMMY!" you screamed, tugging Michael out of the room as you ran away from your mother.

You got into your room and flopped onto your bed, pulling Michael with you. Michael instantly hugged you to him. "She thinks I'm mad Michael... am I mad?"

"You're not, Indie, you're perfect" he comforted you, brushing your tears away with his thumbs.

"You'll never leave me, will you?" you asked, looking up into his eyes.

"Never."

But he did. And it hurts.

I'm very sorry if I got any of my facts wrong at the beginning, I did do research but it was on the internet so I cannot be 100% sure of the accuracy.
