"Mrs. Davis?"

"Um, yes? Who is this?"

"I'm Dr. Cates. Um, your husband... He's-"

That's all she needed to hear. She hung up, and her eyes teared up. Biting her bottom lip and gently wiping away the tears, she climbed up the stairs to her daughter's room. Softly knocking with a knuckle, she opened the door and picked up her child.

"Vhat are ve doing, mutti?" The young girl asked, looking at her mother wide eyed. Her accented voice made Omega flinch, shaking her head.

"We are going to see your father, sweetheart..." She answered simply.

Walking out of the front door, Omega sat her daughter into a seat and buckled her in. Climbing into the driver's seat, she gripped the wheel tightly and nervously, her mind swamped with bad scenarios and uneasy thoughts. Breathing in deeply, she put on her own belt, and drove off.

The imagery around them whizzed past quickly, the clouds above thickening almost every second. Harsh rain began beating at the side of the car, and wind whipped harshly against the vehicle. Taking a glance up at the sky, she pulled in and took the young girl from the seat. Rushing inside the hospital, she reached the front desk.

A young lady with short, caramel brown hair sat at the desk. She wore a white dress shirt, and black pants. Sorting through papers upon her desk, she failed to notice the distressed woman approach. Coughing softly, Omega tilted her head. The nurse looked up with wide sea green eyes and tilted her head.

"A-Ah! M-Mrs. Davis! Here, follow me, please..." She stood up, carrying a folder in her arms and walking toward a long hallway. The building smelt strongly of medicine and stinging disinfectants, Elaine plugging her nose softly, sticking her tongue out. Omega chuckled, and held her daughter closely. Ignoring the smell, she followed the nurse who turned into a room with the numbers '103'. The room was gloomy, and the tv in the small space buzzed with white noise. Rain washed against the glass pane, and trickled down, thunder rolling off in the distance.

Turning on her heels, the nurse looked sympathetically at Omega and Elaine. The small girl tried to peek over the young adult's shoulder, but failed.

"Samil.... He was injured badly by taking the blow for a soldier... He seems stable, for now atleast. But..." The employee gulped, and held the orange folder closer the her chest. Releasing a sigh she hadn't noticed she was holding she continued. "He lost his right arm, eyesight, and he has major burns."

Omega's eyes clouded, and salty streams fell down her cheeks. The nurse smiled sadly, and placed a gentle hand on her shoulder. Walking through the door, she closed the door to keep the privacy of the two females.

Elaine walked toward the bed, and looked up at her father, who's mouth was covered by a mask and a tube connecting to it. His abdomen was wrapped thickly in bandages, as well was his arm. Blood stained both the wrappings, and scorches and ashes still covered some parts of his body. His once chocolate hair, was now dulled and darker, looking flatter than he normally kept it. Burns covered half his cheek, his chest, and scattered in other places. Scars lingered across his once porcelain like skin, the skin around it red and swollen.

"My god.... Samil..." Omega breathed, her eyes wide. She crumpled to her knees beside the bed, and she gripped his hand tightly. Her hands rubbed his larger hand in her own, taking it and placing it against her cheek. Elaine watched confused, and tears collected in her eyes.

She shook his arm softly, and tilted her head. "Vatti? Vake up, sleepy head!" She squeaked, huffing. Seeing he didn't wake up, she grew more desperate. "Bitte? V-Vatti...?! Vake up! Jou promised to come home! Zhis ist not coming home! Zhis ist being lazy!"
