"Take your seats!" I heard Mr. Koch shout from in the classroom.
I darted in just as the bell rang and plopped down in my normal seat next to John.
He glanced over at me and smiled which I returned.
He leaned down, his lips against my ear, sending shivers up my spine. "You're late."
"Am not." I whispered back, blush rising to my cheeks.
He raised an eyebrow at me.
"Ok fine, I'm late. Only because one of your friends was using my locker as a Motel 7." I recalled the buff boy making out with Veronica Heightman as I attempted to do my locker combination with Veronica's shoulder in the way.
He opened his mouth to reply when Mr. Koch addressed us again. "Today we're going to be working on a lab and I expect it to be done by the end of class, so grab a partner and get to work!"
The rest of the kids in the class got up to pair with their friends while John and I stayed in our seats, staring at each other.
I loved his eyes. They were amazing the way they glittered like sapphires in the fluorescent school lighting.
I tried not to focus on them too hard and glanced around the room a few times before meeting my gaze back with his that were still trained on me. "Looks like everyone already has a partner..."
"If you're asking me to be your lab partner," He started. "it's a yes."
I laughed nervously and bit my lip, trying to suppress these foreign feelings bubbling up inside of me. I had only known this guy a week and it's already felt like a hundred years. Maybe Willow was right, maybe I did have a crush on him.
We got started on the lab and I tried to focus on working and not on his precise hands that poured chemicals into beakers so carefully. I tried not to focus on the flick of his wrist when he wrote and the way he swooped the tails on his Y's.
Work Poca I scolded myself, focusing on the chemicals bubbling in the beaker.
"You're so focused." He interuppted my staring at the beaker and forced me to look into his eyes again.
"Just want to get a good grade." I said nervously, scribbling more observations.
"Would you call this an exo or endothermic reaction?" He asked, leaning over to look at my paper. His long hair tickled my cheek and I immediately blushed again.
"Um, endothermic." I tried to say without a wavering voice.
"Thanks." He scribbled on his paper.
I glanced over at his paper and saw that he had already went ahead and answered the discussion questions that I myself was still struggling to comprehend.
"You're pretty good at this stuff." I said.
"Labs, yes. Notes, no." He wrote some more on his paper. "I'm more of a visual learner." He said, scanning my body.
We finished ten minutes early and cleaned up our lab equipment.
I stood next to John at the sink and rinsed out the beakers, my soapy hands bumping his a few times, most of the time not by accident.
I looked over at him and watched as his eyebrows furrowed while he tried to scrub off chemicals from the side of the beaker.
He caught me looking at him and my eyes darted towards the clock, pretending that I was focused on that.
"Is everything alright?" He asked.
I looked back at him and was opening my mouth to say I was fine when a completely different set of words came out. "Do you want to come to my place later and study or something?"
He stared at me, a little surprised, making me regret ever opening my mouth. But he smiled. "Sure." He turned back to rinse out the beaker and I noticed a slight blush rising to his cheeks.

"Capital of New York."
"Albany."
"Capital of California."
"Sacramento, duh."
"Why do we even have to know these?" Natalie groaned. "It's not like I'm going to have to recite the capitals one day."
"It's good information to have. John said that he has to know the capitals when he moves to new states-"
"Do you like him?" She asked.
"What? No, he's just my friend."
"Really?" She smirked at me. "Because you've been talking about him all day."
"I haven't! You're the one who has been talking about him." I mumbled.
"Mmhm." She said, focusing back on her salad.
I rolled my eyes. "You're the one bringing him up." I muttered to myself again.
I couldn't get his face out of my mind when I asked him to hang out with me. I still can't believe he said yes. God, I couldn't wait to get home.
It was official, I had a crush on him.

Interesting Factoid #1: You can all thank belle-of-the-ball-xo for The Urban Princesses: Mulan because she gave me the idea of Mulan trying out for the football team before I almost screwed up and make her a mercenary or something.
Interesting Factoid #2: I wrote half of The Urban Princesses Snow White at a pub after taking a ghost walk (not that interesting but it's the most exciting place I've written in and I was pretty bored at that place)
There are your (not so) interesting factoids of the day!
More fun stuff next update I promise ;)
Next update will be Thursday as usual.
