"I told you he went into the house, Jack!" Maddie exclaimed as she kicked down the door, not caring about the mess she was currently making. She was after one thing. Phantom.

He had showed up a year ago and somehow managed to avoid all of their traps. But now she had him. She had saw him fly straight into the Fenton Works with his thermos in hand. My thermos, she thought bitterly.

Gun raised, she crept slowly through the house. The shadows caused her to spin around about every two seconds. When she entered the kitchen, she saw that the basement door was open.

Using her foot, she opened it all the way without a sound.

Signaling her husband, Jack, she began to head down the stairs and into their lab. A luminous green light, which came from the Ghost Portal, lit up the room. In the corner, she could barely make out a figure fiddling with the thermos.

Raising her weapon, she pointed at the Ghost Boy. "Stupid thermos," she heard him mutter.

Phantom plugged the thermos into the chamber and all of the ghosts he had caught flushed into the swirling green void. Sighing, he unplugged it and pulled out a Fenton Phone. Maddie recognized it immediately.

After dialing two numbers, the ghost held the device to his ear. "Guys, I caught him. Skulker won't be causing problems for a while." He said, a smile playing at his lips.

The ghost boy had been battling the hunter for over a week. Fight after fight, Phantom had gained respect from the humans in Amity park. Finally, Danny had him caught in his own trap, after blasting off his new upgrades.

"Wonderful Danny!" A feminine voice congratulates from the other line.

Maddie shuffled closer in order to get a better shot. She could only hear what Phantom said, not the other person.

"After I get cleaned up, I'll get to the paper," The Ghost Boy said, slightly annoyed that Sam would be pestering him about an upcoming assignment.

Maddie took aim while Jack set up his BOOmerang. The boy seemed so harmless, talking on the phone. Quit it, Maddie chided herself. Every ghost is the same!

"Yes m'am."

A pause.

"Yes I'll be at school tomorrow." He said.

With a click, he shoved the phone in his pocket. What a thief! Stealing our inventions! Maddie thought, pressing the two buttons on the front of her bazooka.

Three.

Two.

One.

FIRE!

Maddies thoughts whizzed as the ammo was shot. It flew through the air and taking root in its target's shoulder. A piercing scream rings out as Phantom collapses. How odd, Maddie thought, glancing at the kid at a titled angle. Ghosts aren't supposed to feel pain.

Danny, on the other hand, had felt more pain from that blast than anything Skulker had thrown at him. He thought it was the emotional pain caused by his parents that added to the stinging feeling.

Maddie stood as Jack threw his BOOmerang. It hit Phantom square in the chest, causing him to let out a small Ooff!

Danny backed away from his mother's gun. He so desperately wanted to yell, "Mom!" but he knew better. They'd hate him for what he was.

"Stop," his voice was low and threatening, sending shivers done both of his parent's backs.

Maddie was only fazed for a moment before she took another shot at the Ghost Boy. Another pained scream rang, causing the parents to cringe.

After watching his green, ectoplasmic blood seep into the cracks of the floor, his mind went foggy. He couldn't think clearly. The only thing running through his mind was to run.

He quickly stood up and weakly pushed past them. He rushed up the stairs and wobbled up the second flight up to his room. As he toppled through hall, Danny began to transform back into his human form, causing his human red blood to mix with his ghostly blood.

Looking around his space themed room, he collapsed on the ground.

Meanwhile, Maddie was following the trail of blood which was found everywhere. As she climbed the stairs, she noticed the traces of red in the ectoplasmic blood. She passed it of as paranoia and continued the trek to her room.

With every step, more human blood was to be seen. She looked up and saw bloody handprints on the side of her son's bedroom door. Maddie opened the door and saw a red puddle beside her son's bed.

And her son lying in said puddle, the dreaded red fluid flowing out of his shoulder and chest.

Realization set in and the horrified mother fell to her knees. Crawling through the blood, tears streamed down her face. "Danny!" She screamed.

Her baby boy was dying. And all because of her.

She just couldn't fathom the fact that her son had been a ghost for a whole year without telling her.

She lifted up his head and Danny smiled. She also returned the smile as she brushed back his bangs. "Danny, you can't die now."

"Mom..." The dying boy began.

"No! Danny, you will not die today." Maddie forcefully said as she took out the first aid kit that was found underneath the bed.

"Mom..." He said again.

"Don't close your eyes, Danny!" The breaking mother pleaded. It no longer matter what her son was. She just needed to see him alive again.

"Mom..." This time, her son grabbed her arm.

Giving up, Maddie gave into his dying wish. "What?"

"Mom, I love you." He let out a cough of blood. Tears trickled down his mom's face. Darkness began to fill his vision, but he also saw light.

Barely seeing his mother sobbing he said. "I will be fine."

As he slipped away from reality, he could hear his mother scream and cry. He hated to see her upset, but he knew he'd be in a better place.
