CHAPTER 1: Adam's POV

Announcer: BLACK OPS TEAM WINS

"I always win," I think to myself.

I get out of my natural habitat of my room and go to use the bathroom. As I'm passing my door I see the 4 letters, A-D-A-M, plastered onto it. I shut the bathroom door and look into the mirror.

"Why are you like this.." I splash water on my face and decide to go to my kitchen. I look for my energy drinks to keep me going for the night, but I heard my mom watching the T.V. as usual, but something sounded...different.

*beep* *beep* "THIS IS A PUBLIC ANNOUNCEMENT. A NEW EPIDEMIC HAS RECENTLY RISEN AND HAS GOTTEN OUT OF OUR CONTROL. PLEASE REMAIN INSIDE UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE. I REPEAT, REMAIN INSIDE WITH YOUR DOORS AND WINDOWS LOCKED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE."

Well that was...strange. I've never seen my mom look so terrified in her life, especially since after my dad got a freak accident with his motorcycle and struggled to stay alive in the hospital.

"Hey mom, what's going on," I ask nervously.

"Don't worry about it Adam, just continue playing your game and I'll take care of this." I knew she said that with guilt, her voice was shaky and she couldn't keep still. I'm starting to get scared.

"Okay, just call me if you need me." I knew things weren't fine, but I went back to my room anyways. The round was starting for my game, and as I touched the controller, the electricity cut off. I started to hear faint moaning, as if someone was in pain, but I tried to turn the T.V. in my room back in before I heard an alarmed scream.

"ADAM, COME QUICK!" Without thinking, I ran to my mom and saw it.

I didn't know what it was, only having the outside light to depend on. At first it looked like our neighbor Mr. Cody Simmons, but his skin was torn all around his face, and he smelled as if he decided to never bathe again.

I looked at him as he approached my mother, my only parent left, and I tried my best to keep him away.

I ran towards him and kicked him down to the ground, but not before hearing a squishy sound. As I looked at the sock on my foot, it was covered in what looked like blood, and I started to freak out, but I didn't care. I kicked him in his face until there was no more, again and again, anything to protect my mother.

After my defense, I looked at her, she was crying and screaming, as if she just seen her dead husband again.

"Mom, we have to go. It's not safe here anymore, the window is broken, and I see more of them coming towards us. We need to go, NOW!"

She wouldn't move and wouldn't talk, she was scared, she didn't know what to do, even though she said she could handle it.

"MOM! Please, we have to go now!" As I finish my last sentence, it was already too late. There was something sinking it's teeth into my mother's neck from the side.

I couldn't look away, I felt like I couldn't breathe, but I just watched as it continued to torture my mother until I screamed and punched it away.

I ran into the kitchen and looked for the biggest knife we had, and with all my force I stabbed it in the head. Blood went all over my clothes, but I knew it was done with my mom.

I quickly lifted up her head, to see if she was still with me, but there was nothing. Her eyes were in a trance, as if she had just seen a ghost, and her screams were no more.

"No, MOM!" I tried to myself up, thinking this was just a bad dream, but I couldn't.

"Mom.....I can't lose you too!" I start crying right then and there, I couldn't hold it in.
