In The Heat of Summer Sunshine

Prologue

The cold air that used to blow in the town of Harverg has now gone as the season is changing. The flowers sprouts are beginning to show up welcoming the warm air. People are starting to go outside not only for work, but also socialising. They are greeting each other with the smiles showing on their faces. The old and quiet town now felt lively again.

Harverg has always been known as the Knights Village in The Kingdom of Altemère. Many of Harverg's men are serving the royals. They are known to be the most loyal and gallant men in the entire kingdom. The Kings through ages have always been choosing Harvergers as their right hands.

Every royal who is 17 years old or more in the Kingdom have at least one knight to stand by them whenever they go. The younger ones are not allowed to leave the palace, and they are guarded by regular knights. This is to ensure their safety all the time. All knights must be trained since a very young age of 5 to be able to serve the royals. A week before any royal family 18th birthday, there always be a festival in the palace for a week. The competition for the royal knight to be assigned to also be held in that time.

Every knights apprentice who has reached age of 17 can join the competition. Even if they are not chosen, once they can pass all the challenges given, they may join the knights force. It is a very hard competition yet not impossible since usually only 10 out of 100 applicants are able to pass through every single challenges.

In two weeks, one of the princess will celebrate her 18th birthday. This is the first and might also be the last chance for Suga to join the royal knights. He is 20 years old now and his dream is to become a royal knight like his late grandfather. Suga has been training hard since 5 as a knight apprentice in his hometown, Harverg. He always get the recommendation from his trainer back home to join the knight force every year but he always refuse. He knows exactly what he wants. To serve the royal. To be a noble knight like his late grandfather did his whole life.
