//February 23, 2030. Interpol Headquarters, 2:20 PM//
After the group divided itself, Drew, X, F, and I went back to HQ. I was internally angry at Connor for thinking that we would break protocol and potentially lose our jobs just because he wanted us to do something that risky.
Since arriving back at the office, Drew and I had gone to the detention wing, where the other agents had put Farrell after her arrest. As I expected, she was sitting in the corner of her cell, head in hands, and probably waiting for one of us to speak first.
"Why?" I growled at her. Farrell looked up in confusion.
"What...? Why did I do what?" Farrell asked, her eyes fearful. She sunk away from Drew and I, hiding deeper in the corner of her cell. She sure is jittery and nervous for being a big time criminal in the Kuranin...
"Why did you join the Kuranin?" Drew finished for me.
Farrell sniffled and rubbed her eyes. "I... I... I can't tell you that," she told us. "It's a secret... I can't tell you or anybody else you might have question me... So go away and leave me alone already..."
"We can't do that!" chirped Drew. "The Kuranin are criminals, and it's our job to bring them to justice!"
"Well, I'm not a criminal!!" Farrell yelled fiercely, standing up and walking up the cell door so that she was staring at Drew and I with intense eyes.
"You aren't a criminal?" I asked, raising an eyebrow. "Elaborate on that, will you?"
Realizing her mistake, Farrell's eyes went wide. She stepped back and retreated into the corner of her cell.
Drew frowned. "But... You're involved with the Kuranin... So... How could you not be a criminal?" he asked, not believing Farrell's words.
"You don't know anything about me! So back off and leave me alone!!" Farrell yelled at us.
I glared at her. "The Kuranin. Tell us all that you know about them. Now would be the best, Farrell," I hissed at her.
Farrell paused, her fists clenching. "I won't tell you anything," she growled.
"And why won't you tell us? Is there something else at play that's keeping you quiet?" I asked.
"Of course not!!" Farrell roared, though it was clear that she was lying.
Drew and I looked at each other, seemingly sharing the same thought. "Get an interrogation room ready," I told him. Drew nodded and ran away to prepare.
"I'm not lying about this! I'm not a criminal and I'm not hiding anything about the Kuranin!!" Farrell screeched, stepping backwards away from me. "You're imagining all of this!! I'm not lying about this stuff!! You're just hoping for a lead!!"
"It is true that I'm looking for a lead, but I'm not imagining that you're hiding something. You're keeping a secret, and I expect to find out what it is. Either you tell me the easy way or we'll have to get rough," I told her, glaring.
"You're not a criminal! There's no way that you'll use violence to get me to talk about all of this!!" Farrell exclaimed. "You're just trying to threaten me so that I spill about what I know! Well, it isn't going to work!"
"Calm down, Farrell," I told her. "You don't need to get angry."
"The room is ready," Drew said, peering around the corner. "I have some handcuffs for the escort to the room, too."
"Let's go. She isn't talking," I frowned. Drew nodded and cuffed Farrell, who let herself get pushed into the interrogation room, giving up on fighting.
"Would you tell us about what you know now?" I asked, taking a seat across the table from Farrell. Drew sat next to me, wrapping an arm through mine.
"No! I can't! You don't understand! If I tell you anything, then I'll have to go with him!! I can't do that!!" Farrell cried in fear.
"Who is 'him'?" Drew asked calmly. "Dark Ness?"
Farrell shook his head. "I know that he's scary... But he isn't the one I'm scared of..." Farrell whispered, looking down.
"What about the other man in your little group? Giuseppe, is it?" I asked her.
Farrell squealed and jumped away, backing away from us. She was trembling madly, her back against the wall. "What makes you think that I know anything about Giuseppe?! Or anybody by that name?! I don't know anything!!" Farrell cried.
"What's wrong?" Drew asked, walking closer to her and placing a hand on her shoulder.
Farrell smacked his hand away. I led her back to her seat, hoping that she would stop being so scared. Why was she so terrified of that Giuseppe guy, anyways? I thought that they were working together in pulling off all of these recent murders that the Kuranin have committed...
"Giuseppe... You're scared of him, aren't you?" Drew asked. "Did he do something to you?"
Farrell didn't reply immediately. She hesitated before shaking her head. "He just... Scares me... I don't like being around him... I want him to leave me alone..." she whined, looking away nervously.
"Giuseppe is involved in why you're not talking... I can tell," I frowned. "What's so scary about a guy who won't even show his face to the public?"
"It's not him who scares me... It's... That name... I don't like hearing it..." Farrell muttered. "So... Don't say his name for my sake..."
"We won't say it if you tell us about the Kuranin," I said.
Farrell sighed. "Fine... He broke out the other two from jail... I offered to help him out because I didn't want him to kill anybody... Looks like that failed pretty badly, huh...?"
"Could you tell us a little bit more about the plan?" Drew asked.
"Or a lot more about the Kuranin in general?" I corrected. Drew nodded in agreement.
Farrell paused before nodding. "As long as I stay under Interpol protection for it..." I nodded. "Okay... Here we go..." Farrell sighed, looking up to meet my eyes.
