Chapter Eleven: Attracting All the Crazy Women
•.⌯.•River's POV•.⌯.•
I make my way towards Spencer's car where we had agreed to meet. The last two classes of the day felt longer than they actually were. I felt uneasy with Kat knowing about the nature of mine and Charlie's relationship and it stressed me out at what she was going to do with that information.Spencer was leaning on his black jeep as he was scrolling through hid phone. Drawing closer to the tall brunette, I call out his name, making him look up to meet my gaze, "Dude, what are we going to do?" I asked as I stood in front of him.
He sighed, "I don't even know, Grey. Kat honestly was pretty unpredictable whenever she harassed Charlie."
"What has she even done anyway?"
"During summer, she had actually showed up to the bowling alley we were at and decided to insert herself into the situation insisting that Charlie was the one who invited her." I winced in embarrassment listening to it.
"So she's that bad huh?"
"Yeah she is. Honestly I have never met anyone who was-"
"Hey River!"
I turned around to see Annette with a mischievous look on his face and I rolled my eyes at her. For the first time, she was alone in her typical tirade on me and I was already tired of the bullshit she was going to bring to the table, "Annette, you literally never learn how to respect a fucking conversation."
"Awe, don't be like that, Grey." She said as she drew closer to place her hand on me, "I just wanted to let you know something."
"And what is that?" I asked, swatting her hands away with furrowed eyebrows.
"Well, a little birdie told me that you and Charlie aren't really together."
My heart dropped at her sentence, but I maintained a glare on my face as I stared at her, "And what makes you think that?"
"Well, you shouldn't worry about me. I wouldn't do anything with that sort of information, but wouldn't it absolutely suck if Evan found out?"
I look at her incredulously, "Are you trying to threaten me?"
Annette stared at me with a smirk making its way to her face, "Evan would literally freak out." She sneered, ignoring my question, "You know, I heard that he really doesn't give a second thought about whether or not a statement is actually fact. Didn't he used to beat the shit out of your boyfriend Charlie before you got together? It would really suck if he started doing that again, now wouldn't-"
"That's enough." Spencer boomed, breaking his silence. He steps in front of me and towers over Annette menacingly. I had never seen Spencer like this. His face was contorted in annoyance and his whole body was tense as he glared down at her, "Annette, or whatever the fuck your name is, you are doing a lot of 'big talk' right now for being an insecure little girl. The adults are talking so why don't you sit down and stay silent, instead of making a fool out of yourself." He spat. I watched as Annette succumbed to Spencer's stance and remain silent to the older boy's words. It wasn't long before Spencer turn to me and told me to get in the car as he made his way to the drivers seat.
However, I didn't. Instead I spoke up for once in my life.
I took one step closer to where Annette was stood in silence. Even after Spencer's words, she didn't hesitate to glare daggers at me before I begun, "Whoever told you this information you think is so damning, can believe whatever they want. My relationship with Charlie is between me and him and has nothing to do with you. Whatever you think you're trying to do right now isn't going to work. So why don't you just go and tell that little birdie of yours to leave us alone and stay in their own lane."
