Natalie Rebelle shivered against the cold as reluctantly dragged herself out of bed. She looked around groggily for her phone, on her dresser. 11:30 Am. She sighed as she saw she had 3 missed calls from her ex, Danny. She dropped her phone on the bed as she walked toward her floor-to-ceiling windows. It was now April and it was still snowing heavily. The chances of any sun this year was slim. She turned at the sound of rustling and a few groans.

"Ugh, what time is it?" Flora croaked from beneath her sheets. Flora was Natalie's sister and now room mate.

"Time for you to get up," Natalie replied. They had gone to a party the night before and Flora had a little more to drink than necessary. "Jess!! Wake up!!"

They had decided to move in together after their dad had forced them to go to university. He was all "If one of you go to university," (mainly Flora) "all of you have to!"

"It’s too early to be shouting like that, Nat," Jess mumbled, as she practically crawled to the bathroom. A few minutes later, the sound of running water, and then a yelp. Jess came running out, her towel barely wrapped around her body and screamed, "There's no hot water! Natalie and Flora laughing said; "Now you know how we feel"

"And you're dripping water all over the floor Jess!" Flora continued. Jess stomped her foot and stuck her tongue out before storming back into the shower.

"Mature, Jess. Very mature." Natalie replied snarkily. They all needed to get to class by 1pm or they were going to get it.

"We're not gonna have enough time to shower, Nat," Flora whined "We only have about 20 minutes left."

Jess rushed out the bathroom, in what could only described as an hour later. She startled at the sight of an empty room. A note on the door caught her attention. Even before she ripped it off, she already knew its contents.

"Dear Jess, You took too long. Love from your dearest big sisters, Nat and Flo."

She scoffed as she tore up the note. "Dear sisters my ass." she thought.

In literature class...

Jess waltzed in late, obviously. The whole class stared as she came in, including Mr. Jefferies. "Nice of you to grace us with your presence, Miss Rebel. So, why are you late...again?" She glared over at Natalie and Flora who were trying to keep in their laughter as they watched this convo take place.

"Well sir..." she started.

"I don’t care" interrupted Mr. Jeffries. "Go sit down." Jess scoffed and went and sat down next to Greg.

Greg was captain of the football team. Tall, about 6ft 1, blonde hair, blue eyes. Totally Jess' type. She was always trying to impress him. She'd tried nearly everything; eyelash batting, lip biting, hair playing and flicking. Nothing had worked. They occasionally shared a glance, but that’s it. She said Hi but all she got back was a nod and an "Alright" from Greg.

Natalie and Flora were sitting at the back of the class. They'd finished the work early so had nothing to do with themselves. The class was nearly over and as the last few seconds of the lesson ticked away, everyone was reaching for their bags. Ring Ring! There was the bell. Everyone stampeded out of class and into the crowded corridor.

In the mob of bodies in the corridor, Natalie and Flora saw Greg and Jess together. They started laughing but it suddenly stopped when the saw Danny and his mate Aaron.

They easily stood out amongst the rest of the student body as they made their way towards Natalie and Flora.

"Hey," Danny said, tucking his hands in his back pockets. The movement made his top hitch up, exposing the tight lines of his stomach. He looked especially good today, Natalie thought. His brown hair was styled in that unintentional scruffy way she’d always loved.

"We'll give you guys some time. C'mon Flora. I'll walk you to class." She faintly heard Aaron say.

"Okay, I guess?" Flora asked. She glanced at Natalie who nodded at her before she turned away. "I'll see you later, Nat."

"Um, we need to talk," Danny said, nervous.

"Well, spit it out." Natalie choked out. She berated herself for sounding so vulnerable.

He sighed. "Natalie... I'll never be able to apologize if you don’t tell me what's wrong." She looked away from his remorseful eyes.

"Last night, at the club, I saw you and Britany. You sure looked like you were having fun." she laughed, humor absent in her voice. Danny winced.

"Britany? Is this all about Britany? We're just friends, babe" he said, reaching for her hand. She recoiled as if something had bit her.

"Friends? Friends you say? 'Friends' don’t fucking nibble on your ear and touch you up, Danny!" She exclaimed but lowered her voice after getting a few strange looks from passerby's. She had forgotten they were in the corridor.

"What?" he whispered, "What are you talking about? We are just friends, babe!"

Natalie laughed again. "Don’t call me babe with those lips you used to kiss her! You know, it hurts more that I was cheated on for a skank and not someone better than me. You're a fucking disgrace!" Natalie spat before shoving her way past him. Not that it was necessary. The corridors weren't even full anymore as all the students had already gone to class.

Danny called after her, but she simply flipped him off.

As soon as she found Flora in her final class, she swore her to secrecy after telling her what had happened.
