"So mayor, why were you in the rat's belly?" Asked William. "I was eaten after your parents Lina Mayfleet and Doon Harrow found the way out of Ember." Said the Mayor. The mayor was still chubby as he was 20 years ago. "William we're here." Said Ashley.
They both got off. So did the mayor too. They saw how Ember was badly destroyed. "Wow. I can't believe Ember was destroyed." Said William. "Come with me little ones you are not safe here." Said the Mayor.
William and Ashley follows the Mayor. The Mayor walks William and Ashley into the office. The office is destroyed half and the lights are out inside the building. But William and Ashley has the only things that are powerful enough to last a few minutes.
It's called fire. But, when Ashley and William gets to a room, Ashley stops. "Hey uh Mayor? Who's that person?" Asked Ashley. "That person is the 7th mayor of Ember... That is also your great great grandfather." Said the Mayor. "What's that he's holding in his arm?" Asked Ashley.
"Remember the box we saw in mom's room? That must be the Instructions. Dad told me about that." Said William. "Hey! Why does dad tell you everything?!" And then, the ground started to shake. It wasn't a good sign at all. "Run!" Said the Mayor. And they did. Running out of the office. But then, the lights went out. "Stay still sis. Mom told me that Ember goes out everyday, so let's be quiet." Said William. They were quiet.
