Imperfect Android

Chapter 4

Tegan walked into the building as the glass doors slid open for her. The main room was empty except for a long desk facing her. There sat the receptionist with her dirty blonde hair tied into a neat bun. She had black glasses and dark red lips.
"You must be Tegan." she said. "Mr. Gallows has been expecting you."
The women got out of her seat and led Tegan to the elevator. Her heels clicked against the polished floor.
"Go to the thirteenth floor. That is where his office is." she directed.
"If you need anything else, just ask. My name is Lenore."
She walked back to her desk and began using her Electropad. Tegan entered the clear glass elevator and pressed the thirteenth button watching the doors close. After each floor came a ding. Each leading closer to the moment she was dreading. Finally upon reaching the thirteenth floor, Tegan stepped out of the elevator. There was a desk with 2 chairs across from it. The whole floor's walls were made of glass, showing the city from a remarkable view. Looking out at the glimmering city of Alifade stood Korix Gallows.
"Ah, my guest." he said without taking his eyes of the view. "You made it."
"Why did you call me here?"  Tegan asked.
"I have been meaning to check up on you. See how you were doing."
"You don't even know me, how could you want to check up on me!" Tegan shouted.
"Oh, I have known you for a long time." he said turning toward her.
Korix sat in his chair and glared at Tegan.
"Tell me who you are!" Tegan commanded.
"I am your creator. And you are my greatest invention."
