I awoke to the sound of Effie's alarm, and unwillingly dragged myself out of bed and into the bathroom.
After I had my shower I had my first good look at my, unfortunately compulsory, uniform. I had a white short sleeve blouse, worn with a striped green tie and an optional dark green blazer. Assuming the weather was nice outside, as it usually was, I wouldn't be needing the blazer today. Now for the skirt. Well I wouldn't even call it that. A dark green, unusually quite short, piece of material. That's pretty much what it was.
After dressing and waking Effie, which turned out be a nasty process, I brushed my hair tied it back and headed down for breakfast.
As I entered the corridor, I saw Alice ahead and jogged to catch up with her.
"Hey" I said.
"Oh hi! Did you mange to get into you're room last night ok?" She asked.
"Um yea.....sorta...."
"Ok....?"
"Yea long story. So-" Just as I was about retell the whole situation of last night, guess who was standing at the top of the stairs surrounded by his mates. Enzo.
As I approach the stairs, trying to keep as far from his crowd as absolute possible in case of awkward happenings, he calls out:
"Hey Ondina" And gives me slight nod of his head.
I look over at him, feeling all of his friends eyes staring at me. I attempt a smile back, probably failing miserably, and just as I move past them, one of his mates shouts out loudly so EVERYBODY in a 5 mile radius can hear:
"Who's the chick?"
So much for the escape without being noticed...
At this point I practically sprint down the stairs and out of sight from Enzo and his group.I wait for Alice who arrives with a slightly confused and worried look on her face.
"What's wrong?" I ask.
"You know Enzo Mathews?"
"Um yea...well sorta..." I continued to finish explaining what happened last night, and by the end of it even she was having trouble controlling her smile let alone her laughter.
"Wow...you...are...clumsy" She managed to choke out between her laughter.
I tilt my head to the side, cross my arms and raise my eyebrows at her.
"Ok, sorry!" She surrenders.
"Breakfast?" She asks.

When we enter the dining hall, the sound of voices, laughter, and excitement fills the air. Also a delicious smell of cooking...mmm. I couldn't help but sigh at that scent. I hadn't been in this hall yet, and were amazed at the enormously long tables that lay in front of me. They stretched from the entrance of the hall to the other end, which must have been about 20-30 meters long...? They honestly reminded me of the the Harry Potter movies........anyway moving on.
Alice lead me to the breakfast bar which was covered in food. From croissants and toast, to baked beans, eggs, mashed potatoes, cereal, and many other types of foods that people were thoroughly demolishing.
"On a morning you have to get here REALLY early, otherwise there is literally nothing left." She almost shouted to be heard over the loud conversations around us.
Once my tray was full with a bottle of apple juice, and a bowl of nutrigrain, don't judge, we headed over to one of the tables. I slid into one of the benches next Alice. I started to tuck into my nutrigrain, and just as I was taking my first mouthful, something attacked my shoulders, making me jump several feet into the air...and as for my bowl of nutrigrain...you can guess what happened to that. The bowl flew high above me, emptying its entire contents on me and the culprit behind me.
A few moments passed, and silenced filled the hall.
By this time EVERYONE was focused on me.
The next part was pretty much in slow motion. I turned around and I hate to see what my facial expression was reading, either you ultimate dumbnut, or wait till I get my hands on YOU! Im guessing it was the second option, as the culprit, who happened to be a boy I had never seen or met, stared back at me eyes and mouth wide with horror. A second passed and he seemed to get the sense he should run while he could. And so he did. Like a maniac running from a cheetah. This made me smile internally.
Dripping with milk, I turned back to Alice and the guy standing behind her, which I assumed was her prankster, and posed the question:
"Who...the hell...was that?"
I purposely pronounced each word with slow and deliberate calmness.
"Umm....that was.....my brother....ben"
Alice managed to get out. Obviously she was still in shock from it all.The room was still silent, apart from the whispered giggles and smart remarks, that was until a loud noise started in the hallway out side. Everyones eyes imediately darted to the doorway, which I was thankful for, and no one else but of course the one and only entered the room singing, if you would even call it that, at the top of her lungs to a song that was unfamiliar to my ears. Effie.
"For gods freakin sake, what the hell is happening to my world!" I mutter before shaking my head and taking my seat again.
And as for Effie, who was still jamming away happily in her own little world, was in for a bit of a shock. Her eyes fluttered open, and a room full of amused eyes greeted her. Her eyes widened a fraction, and she blinked sevral times, before turning back around and heading back out the main entrance. She then proceeded to continue with her sing along session, and could be heard for several moments later, until her voice became a distant echo throughout the school corridors.
The chatter resumes in the hall, and Alice turns to me, clearly about to say something but I cut her off muttering:
"I really need a shower......" And then I head for the door, replaying the eventful morning I've had. I stop, shake my head again, and continue down the hall to the stairs. This really is going to be an interesting year.....
