The Death of a King

Prologue:

                       This is my first book. So I'm sorry  if its bad. I want to become a Better writer so I ask and im begging you, If you read this please comment.                          Faint screams could be heard around the castle. The queen had gone into labor just hours before. Soon the Entire Kingdom Of Ardania will rejoice In Honor of a new royals birth.

Inside the Royal chambers the king stands besides his pained wife. He Holds his breath in Anticipation as the small cries of a new born Echos through the room. The mid-wife smiles as she wraps a clean towel around the crying baby

. " It's a prince your majesties " she declared giving the baby to the queen gently, as not to harm the queen. The king nodded to the midwife and she gathered her things and left. Soon the pitter- patter of little feet could be heard from down the hall.

" Mommy, Daddy... I have a little brother. Can I see him ? " Little Hands Grasp at the bedding desperately trying to climb up. The King laughs and lifts the child onto the bed. The young boy crawls over to his mother and looks down at the baby with a giant smile. The Boy's Black hair contrasted against his parents and Brothers White blond Hair but non of them Minded. They were all a family.

" Mommy what is his name?" The boy asked his excitement displayed fully in his voice.

" Kaleb William Knight. His name is kaleb. " The queen answered With a joyous but tired voice.

" James We should leave your mother and brother to sleep they have both had a long day." The king spoke as he stood up.

" Yes Father' James Leaned over his younger placed a soft kiss on his head and whispered ' I Promise Kaleb I will protect you and love you forever" With that he crawled over and slid of the bed.

Many years passed, and the Kingdom was at a state of peace. But the peace was destined to end all too soon. The Queen was taken By an invisible enemy. Cancer Plagued her once strong body. Out side the castle wall, Nestled far from the people a small garden lay a beautiful garden. The Royal family Played in this garden, When the weather was nice that is. On this one bright and beautiful day that is where the king and queen decided to go for a fun day.

Laughter could be heard from all around the kingdom like little bells flouting on the wind. The king play sword fought his sons with a bright smile on his face. Kaleb fought face to face; while James attacked from the back. Just as the two brothers had spoken about. James hid in the shadows of the trees until it was time to attack. Silently he sprung up and wrapped his small ten year old arms around his father. The king lost his footing and fell forward. Landing on his knees. James landed on his dads back, giggling happily.

" James" the king laughed throwing his arm behind him and grasping for the young boy on his back. Once his hand found James he tugged him down underneath him and started to tickle him. Kaleb Launched himself at his father and landed on his leg.

" I Have you papa " The small boy giggled Excitedly and the king reached for him and pulled kaleb under neath his large body.

" Not any more I have you" and the king started to tickle his boys again. 

The royal family continued to play for a while longer, and just as the sun had started to set the family sat down for there picnic. The queen smiled as the tales from her children's victory against there father was told.

" Mom we had dad in the perfect spot. I was like a real assassin and tackled dad to the ground. And kaleb fought so valiantly I would be proud to call him my second in command. It was amazing. When I come to rule ill have my brother by my side and we will be unstoppable!" James declared vibrantly.

The queens gentle laugh echoed around the small garden. " Oh James I wish so much that, that could be true." The queen smiled at her son. The kings deep laughter rang out.

" YES! My boys will be unstoppable.' the king picked up kaleb and spun him around in the air. Evoking a soft squeal out of him' Thats right My boys will be the strongest In the entire world. And once you find your other half's, more then ever." The king sat Kaleb down and he too sat.

Kaleb crawled over to his mom and lay down on her lap, falling asleep soon after. Looking down she smiled brightly.

" You boys wore him out today. " The king nodded; opening his mouth to reply when he was cut off.

" Mom what is my other half ? " James asked seriously. The queen smiled at her son and began an explanation.

" Your other half is the part of you that is missing, they will be everything you need, not always what you want though, they rarely are the same thing.  you wont ever want to let go them go. No matter how much you don't want to love them, you cant stop wanting, needing, loving them. There the part of you that makes you a full being. Your father is my other half and i am his. Always have been always will be." The queen looked to her husband, Her eyes shining with all the love she had for the man beside her.  James's face squished up in a gross look and made a YUCK sound.

" Thats nasty mom. I don't want a other half. I'm happy with the half i am. I have Kaleb, it would be silly to trade him for a girl. "

" Yes it really does sound silly" The king chuckles" But your not going to say that When you find her, Just like i did before i met your mother.  Your mother was so beautiful, i just could not take my eyes off of her. I guess i was smitten before i even knew her na-" The queen started to cough hard. Her chest heaving Up and down with the force of the coughs. James  raced to his mothers side instantly.

" Mom are you ok. Its going to be okay, It'll Pass like it did before. It always passes." Kaleb spoke to his mom softly.  She smiled and then coughed again. But this time once her hand pulled away blood droplets where running down her hand. " Mom please you need to lay down before you hurt yourself more." The King slid off his Over shirt and rolled it into a make-shift Pillow. The queen lay back looking weak and pale. The king scooped up Kaleb and laid him away from the queen.  The queen Started to mumble something, using her shaking hand she drew a pattern on James's Hand. A bust of Hot pain rippled through his arm. Flowing like lava Through his veins into his chest, filling his person quickly. 

             Though It hurt James very badly he did not say a word, He kept looking at his mom watching for any sign of her getting better. But he could not find any. The queen Motioned for James to come closer and she whispered into his ear. Though he cried softly he nodded in answer ever few minutes. Soon James pulled away; looking away. The queen looked at her husband and spoke softly. " I love you my love tell James and Kaleb that i love them so much all the time for me. I love you so much. " With that the queen looked up to the bright orange and Purple sky And sighed " So beautiful, Perfect for right now. " Her chest stopped moving and her eyes closed. The King broke down and ran to his wife. He lifted Her body to his and cried. Soon the queens body Began to turn into crystal. It flowed up her body like a frosted white wave. Soon consuming her entire body.

               James watched as the glass fled to his fathers body. " Dad Please don't leave Us. We need you." The king looked up at his  son and smiles " You'll be a great king we love you"  The king looked back down at his wife as the glass covered him. His stormy gray laying with his love in his arms.

             James cried a little more, and them wiped away his tears getting a harden look in his eyes and picked up his crying brother. " It's Okay Kaleb. Everything will be Okay."
