Nancy was sleeping, typical after a seizure. Mick sat there, stroking her hand in union with her hair. She was cleaned up, no more blood. Her cheeks remained pale, though her lips began to burst with colour.
Linda wrapped her arms right around Mick though he didn't take his gaze off his daughters chest, which was lightly moving up and down. She kissed his head, comforting him, knowing seeing his daughter like this was hard for him. As hard as it was for Linda, it was that little bit harder for Mick, being so close to his daughter.
He hadn't left her side for a second.
"Dad, go home and sleep or at least get a coffee, if she's sleeping, she won't know. I'll stay. Okay?"
Mick looked at his son reluctantly, but he was too tired to argue so instead settled for a nod. He lightly kissed her head and pushed her hair out of her face before leaving the hospital, a tear trickling down his face.Lee sat there, in silence. His mum had gone for some food, so he was alone with his sister. He couldn't help but blame himself. He left her on her own on the busy night of the week. He closed his eyes, not wanting to face looking at her.
He heard a cough. His eyes shot open and he sat on the edge of his seat.
"Nance?" He whispered, knowing his sister was beginning to wake up.
"What happened?" She mumbled, clearly in pain.
"You had a seizure: a bad one," he explained, "you must've knocked your head on the way down."
"Really. I wondered why I've got a slight headache." She laughed slightly.
He was relieved, seeing his sister smile, even if she was in pain.
"Where is everyone,? I feel so popular right now." She spluttered, being sarcastic as usual.
"We sent dad home. He was so worried about you you know? You gave us a real fright." Lee said beginning to sound serious.
"Well you have to get your excitement from somewhere don't ya, you're all so boring!" She quickly added, trying to lighten the mood, "when can I get outta this place, these sheets are itchy man."Lee smiled.
