Ralph was the first to exit the transport, quickly running into a blown out house, and then called in the rest when he made sure it was clear. Werner began setting up the radio and overheard General Brauchitsch on it, telling the overhearing troops that German troops has surrounded the city, and that the Soviets have taken the Eastern part of Poland. Hanz then heard Franz ordering their group, Group South, to move towards the nearest arsenal, about 100 meters from where they where. "Ok, you heard the kommandat, move out." Said Hanz in his authoritative voice, and the rest began moving building to building, encountering no resistance but a few locals, either dead, dying, or wishing they were.
"Poor scum." Said Hedwig, earning a glare from most of the squad. They began inching towards some gunfire that has been happening for a few minutes, before they found their way into a house. Only to find it occupied, by Polish forces.
"GET DOWN!" Yelled Ralph as he grabbed Alfred and drug him down behind a table as the rest found a pillar, debris, or another table to hide behind. Hanz signaled Werner and Frank, the closest to him, to fire though the thin table they were behind. They weren't being fired at the time and quickly surprised the rest of the enemy from the Mauser and MG-34 fire. Ralph and Alfred started firing over their cover as Hanz got Michel to come with him to the second floor. He pointed towards the arsenal, which is pretty much a fortress by now.
"Pick off anyone you see, ok?" Hanz said. Michel just nodded, and began taking aim but not firing yet. As Hanz came down he saw that the Polish troops were dead. Hanz walked towards the window while the rest of squad followed. They were looking for ways to get through only to find dead German bodies at the entrances. They thought it was impossible until they heard a sudden screech fill the air. As they looked up they saw a Stuka diving towards the arsenal, dropping its payload, and quickly pulled up and flew away to where they rearmed. The bombs hit right on target going through the roof and hitting the ammo piles, destroy half the building and setting the other half ablaze. From the part still burning, Poles were running, walking, or crawling out, some unscathed but most still burning alive. It was obvious that they were going to let them burn, but a shot rang out and the surrounding squads quickly unloaded into the troops. No one knew who fired that shot, but Michel did, because he was the one who fired it...
