You stand against the wall of the ballroom, nervous about the stares being directed your way. You had (y/h/l) (y/h/c) hair, (y/e/c) eyes, and were wearing a (color+color) dress that complemented your slim waist and moderate chest. Your tutor had said you must attend lots of parties, but you didn't understand why.
"You are a lady, Miss. ___. To earn that kind of respect, you must attend parties with the noblest of the upper class." His voice echoed in your head while you watched the dance floor form in the middle of the room. You'd been to so many parties lately, you stopped keeping track of where Laurence brought you.
As a man with glasses and ruffled black hair announced the first dance, a blonde boy with ice blue eyes approached you.
"Hello, Miss. I am the Earl Alois Trancy," the Earl took your gloved hand and kissed it, "will you do me the honor of letting me have this dance?" You blushed a deep crimson and smiled politely.
"Of course. I am Lady ____ Stewart." He took your hand and guided you out onto the dance floor. You put your free hand on his shoulder; his free hand, in turn, he placed gently on your waist as the music began. You and Alois glided around the dance floor like angels-- Laurence taught you, in lessons that lasted for hours until your feet were so sore you couldn't walk.
"You are quite the dancer, Lady ___," Alois complimented, "where did you learn to be so light on your feet?" You smiled and gigged.
"I have a very good tutor." You two were inching closer to each other with every step, you could feel the heat radiating off of his body. Right as you were centimeters from his angelic face, the song ended and there was light applause.
"You're very good yourself, Earl Trancy," you drop your hand from his shoulder, but keep hold on his hand, "now may I have this dance?" You smiled sweetly, and he returned the smile with kind eyes.
"Well, I don't really care for this next song and you're looking flushed, so I'll go get you a drink." He let go of your hand, brushing your cheek with his fingertips before walking away. You find yourself in the same place you were before the dance, near the wall.
"Well then, My Lady," Laurence steps out of the crowd, "I saw you showing off your dancing abilities with the Earl Trancy." The tall, brunette man sighed, closing his deep blue eyes, "you looked happier with him than Ive seen you in a long time. He's of noble blood, more noble than yours, so I suggest you try and keep him interested." You were of noble blood, but you were pretty sure that the name Trancy was a little higher in society than Stewart. Laurence's eyes flicked to something to your left, and you felt Alois' hand slide around your waist. He handed you a glass of water.
"Thank you, Earl Trancy." You smiled as your eyes met.
"Please," he said, "call me Alois." You giggled.
"And you may call me _____." His ice blue eyes held your (y/e/c) ones and Laurence decided it would be a good time to disappear. The current song ended, and Alois laughed, the sound of a happy child.
"I love this next song, would you like to have this dance?" You nod and glide onto the dance floor once more. The music starts and it's slower than before. All the dancers around us were very close together, swaying softly to the rhythm of the music. Alois pulled you close and you didn't object. You could feel each others heart beats, and they started to synchronize. You sighed contently and noticed that Alois was staring at you adoringly. You smile, embarrassed, and look down. His hand let go of yours and he took your chin between his fingers, tilting your face up.
"You're so lovely, ____," he said, "your big, (y/e/c) eyes, your pale skin, your (y/h/l), (y/h/c) hair; you're the most beautiful young lady I could ever hope to meet." He leaned closer, blue fire burning in his eyes. You couldn't help but lean closer too, stretching up onto the tips of your toes to be eye to eye with him.
The final notes were played, and in those few measures, Alois Trancy held your face in his hands and kissed you, lightly but sweetly. He pulled you close.
"I'll be in London all summer. Come visit, my butler will send the address to your tutor. I do hope to see you again." He whispered into your ear.
"I will." You whispered back; then, the party ended and you were whisked away by Laurence.
"The Trancy butler gave me the address of Earl Trancy's London estate. Shall I arrange for you to visit in July?"
"Yes," you said, dazed, "please do."
